Gyeongpo beach is beautiful, wide and white; if you walk along the pine trees to the right of the hotel for 15 minutes or so, you come to Gangmun beach, not so beautiful but with some good bakeries, coffeeshops, and restaurants. The taxi drive from Gangneung station is cheap (and short), the pool area on top of the hotel spectacular (but you have as you have everywhere in South Korea, too, to pay for the hotel pool).
This is a great little guesthouse near the traditional market and the river. Good transport links to bus and rail stations and cheap taxis. Very helpful, well travelled host - language is no barrier in the communication of travellers : ) Large comfortable, quiet room. Highly recommended.
Great location right on the beach, close to restaurants, cafes and convention store. It is a good size- small enough to be quaint and comfortable but big enough to have good facilities.
