It was a very beautiful home. The hosts/staff were warm and attentive to our needs. Interior decor was cosy and comfortable, and place was very well maintained. It was the highlight of our stay and the owner and his wife, together with their cats made us felt welcomed and even prepared some information sheets on suggestions for our onward travels. Amazing authentic experience in the heart of Hokkaido. This inn is perfect for travellers who want to get a glimpse at "real" japanese everyday life and culture. It was great to share a meal and drinks with hosts and other guests and have a super traditional onsen close by. More over it is in the heart of Lake Akan close to lakes and attractions.

For travellers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms may be shared by other guests, and there is often shared space with the host.
Huge rooms, private baths, great beds, felt luxurious. Very easy to walk out to places nearby for food (there were several easy options when we went looking for dinner) Peaceful area and the hotel has so much personality. Check-in was smooth and pleasant. Airconditioning worked well so we were comfortable even in summer.

Location in town makes restaurants, swimming pool, convenience store very handy. Excellent visitor centre with lots of information about local attractions plus maps and brochures in English. Very helpful English speaking staff.
GPS lead us to another Oyado Kinkiyu which is older. Oyado Kinkiyu Annex Suikazura (exterior newly renovated) is further in along the road. The rooms are a little old but big and clean. The staff is unable to communicate in English but she provided us a stack of translated instructions and notes which was very helpful. The road is quiet ( I think it is off peak) with only 2-3 eateries & 1 gift shop are opened. However we still had a good time!
