We had never been to Otsu before, and we were so happy to have booked this place. It's steps from the lake, and there's a lovely little cafe just about immediately beside the place. They also serve food in the downstairs portion of the inn. We stayed in the One Piece room, which is a marvel of nerdery and engineering. These people love their fandom, food, woodworking, and moss gardening, which is all the better for their guests. Our room was designed to house one or two people comfortably, and though small, it is delightful and very comfortable. The room even has a (very) small kitchen! Amazing. We passed a lovely night in this place, and we will definitely be back when we're in Japan again. It was a break we needed after several days of wandering around mountains and doing research. Loved it! Hosts were flexible and personable.

The son and mother running the guesthouse were wonderful. It's a beautiful location, and because it is fairly far from the station, the son picked us up in his van at the station. We did have to call him to get us (which we knew ahead of time), so it's important to have the capability to do so or otherwise arrange it with the guesthouse host. We thoroughly enjoyed the onsen at the hotel with included yukatas and our very spacious room (had a heater/AC as well!). The sheets and yukatas and towels were impeccably clean and pressed. The son and mother had a lovely cafe with free beverages downstairs, and they also had a wonderful breakfast we paid for in the morning. I feel this guesthouse is truly a hidden gem and highly recommend it to anyone considering it. Easily one of the best places I have stayed at in Japan. My husband and I were so charmed during the whole experience.

Easy access without human interaction😁the property was small but clean and had all the essentials for a traveller including fridge, kitchen, microwave, shower and toilet. Shampoo & conditioner were provided which was a nice touch. Rooms were small but were air conditioned and clean bedding was provided. Curtains kept the room dark and each bed had their own bedside light so as to not disturb other guests.

Kyo-Anthu Inn was a joyous place where you feel as though you are part of a loving home in your stay. Emiko-San was very generous, helpful and exhibited fantastic hospitality towards myself. I could not recommend this place enough and if anyone were to visit Kyoto, Kyo-Anthu Inn elevates the experience of this magical city.

Excellent ryokan stay near Lake Biwa! We had a private bath in our room which was lovely, and the room itself was spacious with a separate dining area which was very convenient. Provided toiletries were high quality and the ameneties bar was well-stocked. Staff were friendly and adept at using translation apps to speak with us as necessary. Whole area was quiet and overall a wonderful night spent.
The staff were so incredibly helpful and friendly. Almost felt like royalty every time we arrived in the lobby.
The restaurant provided not just a meal, but an experience.
We stayed in a room with a private Onsen and it was such a joy to just dunk in sporadically through the day.
The onsen was nice, always clean. The kitchen was well equipped and the eating area was spacious. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean - we had a private room.
Absolutely fantastic experience.
The included meal was amazing with fresh ingredients.
Suite room with private bath was amazing and the staff went to great lengths to make us feel welcome and made sure we had a comfortable stay.
Highly recommend it and will be back on my next trip to Japan without fail.
We were met with friendly staff, who in no time completed our check in, and served us with a drink while we waited. We were then guided to our room with clear explanation of things we needed to know. The breakfast and dinner were really an eye-opening experience in the Japanese food culture. The private in room onsen was just superb.
