Centrally located in the art-house area. Comfortable and spacious for a solo traveller or couple.
Last time I was in Naoshima I stayed at a guest house, sharing common areas with other travellers. I much preferred this option of having a whole property to myself.
There is a small take-out cafe in front of the property but it operates only for a few hours in the middle of the day, so it wasn't a noise problem. You do occasionally hear the commerical fridge.
It is close to a road intersection, so when the buses start moving it gets reasonably noisy (after 8am & finishing around 5-6pm). Not a big problem - but just advising.
If you want to buy groceries - the local co-op closes around 4pm, and the 7-eleven, which is not far from the main ferry terminal, (& has longer hours) is a 30 minute walk away. So buy your supplies when you arrive from the ferry.
Providing quiet street views, Sparky’s House in Naoshima offers accommodations, a garden, a terrace, and a shared lounge.

The location is great! Walking distance to restaurants and very close to the ferry which is handy if you have luggage. The bike rentals at the hotel were very convenient. Hotel staff were very nice and helped us make a dinner reservation.

The room is huge! Also it was very clean, and had a fridge, kettle, and microwave. There is free laundry in the shared hallway, which was super helpful. The bathroom was on the larger side, compared to others I’ve used in hotels.
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.

FAQ about B&Bs in Naoshima
On average, a B&B in Naoshima costs $93 per night (based on Booking.com prices).
Host was extremely helpful and allowed us to check in early. She also recommended and booked restaurants. It was a great location, local to the port and good restaurants. Although shared accommodation it was very quiet. Bathroom and showers were very clean. Would definitely recommend.
This was a budget friendly option for me. Although it doesn't offer the luxury of a good hotel stay, it does have really good facilities. The location was OK. There are two great family restaurants a minute from the property. But it is in a small fishing village, which, although charming, doesn't have nightlife. The bus stop is just outside the property, and you can easily get to all the art installations and museums on the local bus.
The owner was really helpful. He dropped me at the ferry port on my last day.
Beautiful structure with large rooms, luxurious bathroom and private terrace. Dinner was a traditional saiseki Japanese meal and absolutely delicious. After dinner we had a night cap by the open fireplace. A great location from which to visit the whole island of Naoshima and the ryokan offers a comprehensive shuttle service.
Great location. The island is very quiet at night so it is nice to be near some restaurants. Also the art project in Hommura is great! The staff was lovely and gave me an excellent restaurant recommendation. Cute room and the miso soup that comes with breakfast was delicious!
Kuni and Akkie are fantastic hosts!
