Appikogen Pension Mutti, hotel in Hachimantai

Set in Hachimantai in the Iwate region, with Appi Kogen Ski Resort nearby, Appikogen Pension Mutti offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

Everything is perfect about Pension Mutti. Kayoko San is a wonderful host. She is so kind , thoughtful and caring. She picked us up from the station on the first day and also picked up daily to/from the Appi Ski Area. Most importantly, she prepared the most delicious meals during our stays. The ingredients are all freshly cooked from the region and she is trying to offer us variety of what we eat. We cannot be thankful enough to stay here for our trip to Appi Kogen. It is Kayoko san that makes our trip extra warm and special. Thank you so much.

Amazing hosts, sweet, attentive and patient, doing everything they could to communicate with us (who couldn’t speak enough Japanese) and help us make the most of our short stay. Rooms are traditional and cosy, a truly wonderful place to stay.

Pension Hinode, hotel in Hachimantai

40 km from Morioka Station in Hachimantai, Pension Hinode provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath and public bath.

Great location. Just 5 mins from mori no ohashi bridge. The vicinity is beautiful. We went in autumn and it was in good bloom. There is an onsen which was nice. It is a bit worn out due to sulphur but you get a private bathing there so its ok. The room has a great view facing mt Iwate

Location superb near Shimokura Ski Resort and Appi Kogen. Was quiet, comfortable, hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. There was a drying room for our snow clothes that were wet. The accommodation was clean and warm.

Exactly what we wanted. Great location (we did have a car) to explore both Appi Kogen and surrounding areas. Very friendly and accomodating. Kids and hubby loved the pizzas at Ollie’s Follie (attached to the property)

Very good value for money. Great food and plenty of it. You could walk to the ski field but no need to- there is a hotel shuttle you can arrange daily to take you and pick you up at day’s end (reliable and punctual). You can use the guests onsen or a private one - there is one for two people and another that can accommodate four people. There family rooms (combination Japanese and Western style) were modern, spacious and comfortable.

Breakfast is excellent: Japanese and ample quantities. Small selection of western food available. Dinners are sensational; a rotation between Sukiyaki, Bbq and Shabu Shabu. All delicious in their own way. Accomodation is 3 star and comfortable enough. There are private and public onsens - the public ones are, perhaps, slightly small. Location to Appi Kogen is perfect - a two minute drive at most, even in foul weather. The tariffs are very reasonable, in stark contrast to 1.3km up the hill, on snow.

Beautiful foyer area, well maintained property, excellent staff and being able to use the private outdoor onsen was a huge plus. It was lovely to have a nice view from the Japanese style room as well.

Cozy room with floor heating not so common in hotels/ hostels in Japan. The hot bath is based on 1hr slot booking so is good for visitors who prefer private ofuro apres ski. Pickup and drop off at the ski center is convenient as the bus to the Morioka station departs from there. Though the timing may be about 1hr apart, the canteen at the ski center has wide variety of food to enjoy while waiting.
