It is on the edge of a lake, covered with purple flowers depending on the time of day and water levels. The dichotomy of wealthy (empty) vacation homes and tiny traditional villages is interesting to experience. The villagers are very sweet and children come from the houses to greet passersby.
The pool is very clean and a rooftop terrace is a nice place to have breakfast, write, relax and do morning yoga. We had some great Ayurveda massages and the owner had a group dinner prepared for us one night to share with the other guests.
Many don’t like the distance to the beach, but we appreciated being out of the hustle and bustle of Lighthouse Beach. NYE we moved to the beach with bus loads of people coming in from the country…we may be regretting our change.
Murugan, the host, is an Indian Mr. Roark and will do everything in his power to make your vacation comfortable.

Very quiet location only 5 mins walk from the noise and bustle of the beachfront. (NB: the location map shown on booking.com is not accurate - the villa is located 50m before the lighthouse entry)
Very large spacious room with dining and sitting areas. Lovely beach views from the room and balcony which also has a sitting area to catch the cool sea breeze. Breakfast was omelet and jam&butter and tea/coffee delivered with a smile.
The best part of our stay was our English/Italian speaking host Babu who made our stay very comfortable and homely. We originally booked 2 nights but stayed 4 because we felt so welcomed. He checked in with us a few times a day to ensure we were happy. He helped us with a good priced full day tour to Kanyakumari - which we thoroughly enjoyed - and a driver back to Triv. He was there to answer any questions and became a friend.

Great historic house with just 3 rooms. Staff was really nice and gave us great tips how to Manöver in Trivandrum. The breakfast was outstanding. The small balconies are great for relaxing and watching the rain deluge coming down.

Best Stay i had in past few years. One of a Kind property which is just a stone's throw away from Beach. If you want a vacation to relax and rejuvenate - this is the perfect place. I can still feel the sound of waves even after am back home.
would like to mention few points which stood out in our 3nights, 4 days stay
Location : Had searched for days to get this kind of beach side cottage. You cannot get this view and proximity to Beach from even the five star hotel adjacent to Karikkathi Beach house. Exactly the place they mentioned in description.
Staff : Very cordial. Vinod the manager there ensured we had the perfect stay. Took his suggestions regarding food and places to visit nearby and his suggestions helped us to have the best. Just need to give him some time to get things arranged in case if they were not available there.
Food : It was awesome. Limited Menu but very tasty. Never thought i would love kerala style cooking so much. Vinod ensured food was specially made for my daughter. She loved the fish which they have got us every night on special request.
Privacy : One of the best. Only 2 families per villa. They have 3 villas and they are separated by far. we had very good privacy which helped us to relax. You will get your own private Beach especially for Karikkathi Beach house.
Massage : We took massage for 2 days as we had to go out one day for sightseeing. Best Massage we had and that too the prices are very reasonable compared to those that we get in places like Hyderabad or Bangalore or even Varakala
Last but not the least - special mention to Sajjad ji (owner of this property) who ensured that we are taken care of. From the time i had booked this property in booking.com till i checked out, he kept on talking to us to ensure we were taken care of.

Great location lovely private beach in the restaurant jolly was the best member of staff going and looked after our every need beyond belief, also at night keep an eye out for the flying fox bats they are amazing and if you get a chance go to the local fish market
Beautiful, large hotel in idyllic setting. The rooms were lovely and clean and very big with all the facilities you could need. The swimming pools and grounds are well maintained and it’s in a great location on the beach and quiet away from all the hustle and bustle of Lighthouse beach which is a 15 minute drive away.
We loved how big the room was. It was tastefully decorated. The balcony was very private. It’s set back off the strip so was pretty quiet. It’s the perfect place to stay in Kovalam.

Great location in Chowara Beach … a lot quieter than Kovalam itself. Super comfortable connected rooms with balconies … perfect for a family. Big pool … which they are re-fitting. Lovely service and restaurant. We got a good deal on this hotel and loved it!!
Super breakfast, exceeded expectations. Good choice of fresh fruits, cerals, made to order dhosa's etc & fresh juices. Location great, very close to the beach , infact has own private beach. The hotel is a little dated, but customer service is exceptional. Staff are amazing particularly Abdul Mateen and Jolly in the restaurant. Definitely recommend 👍🏼.
Great location in the heart of it all but quiet. Lovely big room with balcony area with view of the sea. 1 minute walk to the sea. Good hot shower. Owner was very helpful.
