Our host Michael was conducting renovations but kept a ground floor room available for us due to our early booking. The property is wonderfully historic and backs onto the River Nore, with on site parking and our double room was very comfortable. Michael provided us with a cooked breakfast each morning in the picturesque upstairs breakfast nook. My wife alternated between the salmon omelette and muesli with yoghurt while I plumped for the full Irish breakfast each morning. Delicious! This was also a great base for visiting nearby sites such as Kilkenny, Waterford and New Ross.

Superb location for a night out in Kilkenny. Short walk to loads of great restaurants and pubs. The owners couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome, and provided loads of information about things to do, places to visit, and local insight which helped us find an amazing pub with a brilliant band that crowned our stay. Our second visit and we were not let down. JB’s is rapidly becoming our go to in Kilkenny. Staff are above and beyond helpful and warm. Location is perfect and the rooms are warm, clean and comfortable. This spot is a gem.

Room was well finished, very clean, heated floor in bathroom, comfortable bed, great coffee/water station and quiet. Food in The Hound was excellent; my wife rated her meal as one of the best she ever had; I emnjoyed mine too. Not cheap, but great quality food and waiting staff were very good.
It was neat and clean private and welcoming homely and cosy. we had the best relaxing sleep on both nights on very comfortable beds and quiet nights with no exterior noise to wake up to the sound of birds chirping. we felt relaxed and refreshed every morning and a nice deep bath to soak in.
Our family stayed in two lovely rooms that were adjacent to each other. We had private access to the rooms which gave freedom to come and go as we pleased. The breakfast menu was excellent. The hosts were warm and friendly. There is parking in the courtyard and a door leading out to a gorgeous river walk. Thomastown is a gem of a town. If you’re looking for a quiet base to explore the locality the Tower House B & B is a comfortable home away from home.
