John was the perfect host. Excellent breakfasts. Great insights into where to go and what to do. He engaged in long conversations on everything from local entertainment to thoughtful comparisons of history and governments. My room was comfortable; it had a great view. A shared common room had even better views, and it was great for planning the next several days. I stayed for over a week and will return.

reasonable price, scenic location, beds good, instant hot shower with clear controls very good, ample breakfast. The horses out back were interesting to watch and there were no objectionable odors.

my girlfriend and I spent two nights here last week. We were on a low budget exploration of Ireland. It was easy to reach by bus 980 from Dublin. From the main bus stop in the twon you walk only 12 minutes. So we could enjoy our drinks in town and later walked "home". The taxi was quite cheap but we opted to walk into town. The place is clean and you get breakfast. Pascall, the gentleman who served us is a cool mature man who is particular about healthy foods. For instance, he has low fat and low sugar food for breakfast. We quite enjoyed the home made scones, the calm environment and peaceful home-like hospitality and facilities. This is a to go place when in Carrickmacross and nearby towns like Ardee, Dundalk, etc. We are planning to make is our regular weekend or holiday place.
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
My friend and I had a lovely cosy very enjoyable stay here. Bed was so comfy, n shower was brilliant, very powerful. Beautiful place, quiet and so relaxing. Pauline was very friendly, very kind and most helpful, and she couldn't do enough for us. The breakfasts were great too, in such a lovely setting. Everything was exactly as you would like it to be. We stayed at Killyliss Country House overnight in September as part of a visit to the area to do a little work on my family tree. Pauline the owner is incredibly friendly and had helpful suggestions about how to search out information about my ancestors from the area. Our room was great, it was quiet, comfortable and had everything we needed. Pauline suggested Kieran’s in Ballybay for dinner and that was great too (seriously large portions !).
