We had great time here.
A nice family homestay outside of the city center (it can be a little noisy though).
Felt like at home, great moment over dinner,
water refill, local medication if needed;)
Room is spacious, clean, modern and well furnished.
Breakfast was perfect and in addition you can rent motorbike here
Henrick is a good guide I highly recommend a tour with him.
He has strong knowledge about the toraja culture and will dedicate a lot of time to explain it. Kuree Sumanga !

Toraja Dannari Homestay provides all the basics you need for a comfortable stay in Rantepao. The location is walking distance from the Rantepao town, which makes it very easy to find food options and explore the town on foot. The room was clean and there is hot water. It takes a while for the water to heat up initially though after you switch on the geezer. So, make sure to turn on the hot water well before you use the shower. There is no sink in the bathroom, which can make non-shower activities like brushing one’s teeth a bit tricky. There is a small table, a chair, a clothes rack and a fan in the room. When I arrived in the evening, there was no one at the reception / in the house, although I had informed them of my arrival time. Additionally, there was no towel or toilet paper in the room, and I had to wait a while to find someone to ask for such things. The wifi password was also not provided anywhere. So, again, I had to wait a while until I could find someone who works there to get the password. I also though breakfast was included in the reservation, but it turned out that you have to pay for breakfast separately. So, make sure to double-check about the breakfast before you make the reservation. It can get noisy depending on your neighbors as the walls are thin. It can also get very noisy every morning around 4.30-5 am when the church uses loudspeakers for hymns / sermons. Around the same time, the cocks in the entire neighborhood start crowing very loudly, and they continue for at least a couple of hours once they start. I have experienced this in other parts of Indonesia as well. So, I don’t think Toraja Dannari Homestay can do anything about it. Just plan accordingly and go to sleep early. Loraine Tin was very helpful during my stay.
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
Isobel who if not the manager should be made our stay. With contact before we arrived and helping to show us amazing sights and experiences
All rooms are basically modern western ones built inside Torajan traditional houses. all tasteful and picturesque
A big pool and excellent breakfast
Restaurant has all the Indonesian staples and Australian steaks
This place is fantastic and I would highly recommend staying here. Great rooms that were very clean. Great pool and restaurant. The staff are lovely. The location is a little out of town but that is actually really nice as it was quiet and peaceful. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Awesome banana pancakes and good food. Great for kids and we had a room connected to theirs which was great.
Manaek is a lovely sweet woman who seems to run the place. She prepares breakfast and dinner for the guests and she always smiles. The people are always willing to help you, with transportation or tours etc.
The homestay is next to beautiful traditional houses and located in between the rice fields with beautiful views. It is perfect if you are looking for a peaceful stay in nature, compared to the noisy city centre of Rantepao.
Liked the hot water shower, ensuite, excellent breakfast for small extra cost, share kitchen with fridge, all day tea, coffee and purified water, great views from property and very friendly, kind hosts. Despite the couple of shortcomings think it was good value for money and would stay again.
I had a wonderful stay at Mana tias🙏 Great private room good dinner and inclusive breakfast and friendly staff who guided me around Toraja including a funeral ceremony!
Don’t hesitate to book your stay and Toraja tour with Mama tia🙏
Very nice view to return home to after exploring Toraja. Very friendly and accommodating host made tasty pancakes for a price and was able to rent a scooter. Cheap local food options close by and 10min walk to city centre
Charming place with nice staff. Sometimes they gave us a free fresh fruits salad in the afternoon, such a delicate gesture! The room was spacious and comfortable. Many guides were waiting just in front of the guesthouse.
You are standing right at the edge of a rice field with a beautiful mountain on the back of it. Lovely sunset from your coffee table.
Room and toilet are spotless. Comfortable bed, comfy and bright room and strong WiFi.
The owner and his son are incredibly welcoming and friendly. We felt like at home.
Free coffe and tea, which is always super nice to have.
No hot water available but they arranged a bucket of steaming hot water for us one rainy day that we came back soaked wet.
Location is also great. Quiet yet close to city centre
The room is beautiful, with a modern private bathroom and a balcony with a view of the mountains. Hendrik and his family were lovely hosts. Hendrik is also an experienced tour guide who took me to a funeral and several grave sites in the area on his motorbike. He also gave me lifts (it's a bit of a hike into the city centre), found me a guide for trekking in the mountains and was generally very forthcoming and helpful. Terima kasih untuk semuanya!
