I really enjoyed staying at Ruma Kaca. It was a nice little escape from the busy city. The host and her family are super lovely and welcoming. I felt right at home. The accommodation is beautifully located right next to Lake Toba and there is so much to see and explore. You can see that the host puts her whole heart in this place:) Also the Batak museum right behind the accommodation was very interesting to visit. I had a lovely stay and would go back anytime again.

Loved the location on the lake. I swam in it daily until the jet skis got busy and it felt a bit unsafe. And noisy! I liked being away from the main centre which was a good 30 minute walk. Rented a bike which was ideal . Maya was a lovely host and none of the things about the place I didn’t like reflect on her

Good host (Dong&Siska) for being so informative on suggesting where to go,where to take a ferry,they also provide bike rental.The room is nice and in front of the stay got a good cafe for me to find for breakfast,lunch or dinner..those solo traveller might like it because the cafe got live band performance twice a week and I didn't mind the noise coming for it honestly because I can still manage to sleep peacefully safe and sound due to the whole day spent moving around the island😂

I got very sick, which is no fun, specially as a solo traveller, and the ladies at reception helped me sooooo much. The younger sister drove me to the emergency room and even cooked and fed me some rice while I Could barely move. They brought me the food to my room, and where flexible and helpful with everything.
Plus, the room is in perfect conditions, with nice views to the lake and close to everything (how shower was highly appreciated)

We were literally stranded after a jet ski was rented to us through the hotel and it ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. We were left there for more than two hours while they kept lying to us saying someone was coming to help us. We were swimming back when someone finally came. They even tried to charge us for the gas it took to rescue us and never apologized for giving us a jet ski without a full tank.

The room is spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable although it is a bit weird that the whole bed is covered in plastic. Bathroom is small but okay.
For travellers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms may be shared by other guests, and there is often shared space with the host.
The first night we were there we had the whole resort to ourselves which was amazing! The next few days there were other westerners staying but it was still very quiet. The view of the lake was great and the ferry will drop you at their dock (just ask). You can swim in the lake beside the resort and there are plenty of sunloungers and deck chairs.
