The location is fantastic, St James Villa is a 5 minute walk to Winchester city centre, but leafy and quiet and residential. The decor is quintessential English opulence. I love it, completely unique, one of a kind and with the best host. Alex is charming and the perfect host.

It was in a great location close to the city centre and train station but quiet at night. It had all the facilities you could need for self-catering. It was very cosy and had lots of space, It was also very secure with two coded doors.

Had a delightful two nights at this hotel in early September. Location was excellent, with an atmospheric walk through the cathedral precinct to reach the city centre. Excellent breakfast (enjoyed watching the college students striding off to lessons), good shower and extremely efficient and helpful young staff team. On site parking. Coffee making machine and complimentary bottles of water in the mini-fridge (replenished on the scene day) really added to the comfort of the stay, as did the huge luxury bath towels.
