Stayed by mistake after breakdown on motorway. Lovely staff, very nice room with beautiful bath… red hot water. Dinner was excellent all far better than expected. Let me hang around in the room next morning whilst waiting for garage to call. All just great

The Swan, hotel in Topcliffe

Set in Topcliffe, 18 km from Lightwater Valley Theme Park, The Swan offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar.

The Swan is a delightful pub with equally delightful staff. The landlady was incredibly friendly & very accommodating as our planned eta changed & nothing was too much bother. Clean & cosy room. Tea/coffee etc along with shower gel, shampoo etc all little added extras. Small hairdryer provided but wasn’t required. We enjoyed both an excellent pub evening meal & delicious cooked breakfast. All the staff were very friendly & helpful. Great location for an event our daughter was attending nearby but on booking I hadn’t realised quite what a fabulous location it was in to explore the lovely towns & villages nearby. Unfortunately due to bad weather we didn’t explore much but it didn’t matter as The Swan was such a great pub! We will return again in the future, hopefully when the weather is kinder. Thank you to all the staff - you make this pub!

We had a lovely stay at the Exelby Green Dragon, it is a great community run pub. Our room was small but modern, clean and comfortable. Nice touches with a coffee machine although only two pods supplied. Would highly recommend having dinner the food is delicious and all homemade. The breakfast was also really tasty. The staff are really friendly and do a great job. We would definitely stay again. The proximity to the A1 is ideal.

Great location. Cosy ensuite single room was perfect, with view of the market place. It was quiet too. Great for breakfast downstairs. Loved the beautiful old staircase. Staff were helpful, the young woman on reception kindly carried my suitcase up the stairs. I'll be back.

In a secluded, private courtyard this quaint little cottage is a hidden gem. Standing out front you could imagine the street life of 100 years ago just by looking around you. We stayed a couple of days and wished we would have stayed a couple more as The Bakery Cottage and Thirsk are steeped in history and we didn’t get a chance to take it all in. In summary, if you’re looking for a quiet few days away with beautiful surroundings then you shouldn’t look any further than The Bakery Cottage.

Beautiful property. We loved having a private hot tub and using the pool too was almost private as it was nice and quiet. The velvetiser was an amazing touch and the coffee machine with pods. Also really loved having robes and slippers- felt like a luxury hotel!
