Newsham Grange Farm, hotel in Thirsk

Set 22 km from Lightwater Valley Theme Park, Newsham Grange Farm offers 4-star accommodation in Thirsk and has a garden, a terrace and barbecue facilities.

First of all I’ll start by staying the staff were lovley and very attentive. It is in a beautiful area with beautiful grounds, and of corse the lovely hot tub. What let it down massively was the cleanliness. We saw cob webs absolutely everywhere. I’m not just talking about a couple in the harder to reach places. They were around the bathroom floor, above our heads in bed, in the reception. Really thick webs, that obviously hadn’t been touched for a while. We also had a lovley ‘poo stain’ in our toilet when we arrived there. We found this really unpleasant and not acceptable. The breakfast was very basic, and you are sat in really close proximity to other guests, with no background music etc, so we found this quite awkward and felt we couldn’t talk over our breakfast. Unfortunately we wouldnt return for these reasons, which is such a shame with such a gorgeous place.

Great location. Cosy ensuite single room was perfect, with view of the market place. It was quiet too. Great for breakfast downstairs. Loved the beautiful old staircase. Staff were helpful, the young woman on reception kindly carried my suitcase up the stairs. I'll be back.

In a secluded, private courtyard this quaint little cottage is a hidden gem. Standing out front you could imagine the street life of 100 years ago just by looking around you. We stayed a couple of days and wished we would have stayed a couple more as The Bakery Cottage and Thirsk are steeped in history and we didn’t get a chance to take it all in. In summary, if you’re looking for a quiet few days away with beautiful surroundings then you shouldn’t look any further than The Bakery Cottage.

Beautiful property. We loved having a private hot tub and using the pool too was almost private as it was nice and quiet. The velvetiser was an amazing touch and the coffee machine with pods. Also really loved having robes and slippers- felt like a luxury hotel!
