The Green Man Stanford, hotel in Shefford

A country pub dating back to 1790, The Green Man Stanford offers bed and breakfast in Bedfordshire, around 35 minutes’ drive from Luton Airport.

The staff could not have been more accommodating, the pub was very homely and inviting. The food for dinner was great - very good for the prices charged. I had the fish and chips, which was genuinely nice. My wife had the ham, egg and chips - which also was good. Both had really good presentation, and good flavour. In terms of accomodation the room was nice and warm, and the bed was comfortable. They had everything that we needed, and they really went the extra mile to help us out. It was a basic stay, but a really good one, well priced, and exactly what we needed for one night.

Good location for walking and on site of pub that serves nice reasonably priced food. Able to watch Netflix & IPlayer on TV. Nice to have the fridge & microwave. Crockery & cutlery were provided and there was fresh milk in fridge and two mini boxes of cereal plus tea/coffee. Nicely decorated. Bar staff were exceptional, friendly, helpful and polite. Very dog friendly both in chalet and the pub and did not charge extra to allow her to stay. The walks were lovely with great views of the area.

Everything. We were greeted by Cindy who made us very welcome and couldn’t do enough to make sure we were comfortable. The house and garden are beautiful. We were very well fed from tea and scone when we arrived to an enormous tasty breakfast - with the best hash browns!

Location is very quiet. Lots of nice touches in the room (e.g. little chocolates). Continental breakfast in room was very good, there was cereal, muffins, croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, hot chocolate, fresh milk for tea and coffee etc. The Black Horse has a nice restaurant which serves food and is very close to the rooms.

We stayed here 1 night as we were attending a wedding in Ampthill. Nice room, albeit a little small. It’s not in the main building, but a semi detached chalet at the back in the garden, so nice and quiet, with a private gated entrance. Lovely bathroom and good mod cons in the room, ie air con and an electrically operated velux window. The staff were very accommodating when I called the day before requesting an earlier check in so we could get ready for the wedding.
