The Greyhound Hotel, hotel in Shap

Located just 13 km from Askham Hall, The Greyhound Hotel features accommodation in Shap with access to a garden, a bar, as well as a housekeeping service.

Lovely location, quiet and relaxing, an excellent start to our holiday. The lady behind the bar in the evening (I think she's from Wales) was so friendly and inclusive of us 'tourists'. It was a great atmosphere and a fab evening. Food was good and not too expensive. The room was big and very comfortable, plenty of drinks and the jug of water was appreciated. Very good value, will definitely stay again.

Superb B&B. Amy was so welcoming, offering tea, wine and dinner on arrival. Beautiful building with panelled deep walls, sumptuous four poster bed, rugs and furniture. Modern shower over bath. Parking outside by a beautiful garden with lovely views. I had the best sea bass I've ever had. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Bank House B and B, hotel in Penrith

Set in Penrith, 9.2 km from Askham Hall and 32 km from Derwentwater, Bank House B and B offers accommodation with free WiFi in a historic building.

Lovely breakfast spot on. Lovely hosts couldn’t have done enough for me. They also did their best when I opened an old wound (completely my fault) while showering. Also provide warm water for my travelling flask. Think the b and b prides itself on the old style hospitality.. certainly to my taste.

Brooklands Guest House, hotel in Penrith

Offering garden views, Brooklands Guest House is an accommodation set in Penrith, 8.6 km from Askham Hall and 31 km from Derwentwater.

It was lovely going into the property with all its character, the lovely wide stairs, the ever so friendly dogs and Sue, who made the stay so enjoyable. She is as characterful as her lovely house. The bed was very comfy and we had a great nights sleep. Sues recommendations as to where to eat were spot on and we couldn’t fault this place. We normally stay in a hotel chain if we are travelling up north, but this stay has made us realise that we love a bit of character and will be hopefully staying in places with like this in the future.
