Cambrian House, hotel in Ellesmere

This historically listed former coaching house has a large, secure free car park, and free Wi-Fi. It is in the centre of the picturesque town of Llangollen, in the Dee Valley.

Good communication with Cath the owner before arriving. Arranged parking and met me at the car. My room was up two floors, so she carried my case up for me. She explained all the house rules and left me to it till morning. Comfy single bed, a power shower that is better than the one I have at home, TV and enough tea and coffee to cater for 50! Everything spotlessly clean. Absolutely dead quiet and I slept well. Came down in the morning and had a modest cooked breakfast (I could have had the works plus cereals) with toast and jam plus plenty of tea. I've stayed in B and Bs that charge double what I paid but are half as good. Cath makes the place in my opinion. Funny, kind and welcoming. You'd be nuts to stay anywhere else!

Cafe was nice. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was nice but limited to one course plus hot drink & (carton) juice - which was a bit minimal. No fruit apart from berries on cereals. Very good coffee. Room was fine. Lovely outlook over the river. Good shower.

The Moorhead Bed & Breakfast, hotel in Ellesmere

Offering a garden and garden view, The Moorhead Bed & Breakfast is situated in Wem, 42 km from Telford International Centre and 44 km from Trentham Gardens.

We were made very welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. The room was light and generously proportioned with everything we needed and a very comfortable bed. It was simply and tastefully decorated and offered beautiful country views from the windows. Breakfast was delicious, and nutritious with fresh fruits, nuts and yogurt as well as cereals and the traditional English breakfast, which included freshly laid eggs. There was also a choice of small snack meals in our room in the evening if required. I will definitely stay there again if I'm in the area.

A lovely couple run this B'n'B; friendly and happy to pass on information about the local sights. Also, I was offered fresh milk to go with the tea and coffee in my room. A sitting area has been provided for guests, so we aren't confined to our rooms but are, likewise, not impeding on our hosts' private time.

If you want to stay in a quaint traditional B&B, this is the place for you. This is not a high spec, modern place to stay, but it is very comfortable, extremely quiet and peaceful. Hazel is just lovely, very welcoming and cooks a delicious breakfast. The location is superb, views from the bedroom are beautiful.

A beautiful location. Very peaceful and charming. Private parking at the front with plenty of room. The bedroom was a very good size and the views from the windows were wonderful. Hazel was a wonderful host. As my other half is a coeliac, she bought him some gluten-free bread for his breakfast. We took a short walk in the morning, and the area is just lovely. At breakfast, we had a lovely chat with Hazel about the story of the house and surroundings. Very interesting indeed. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely quiet location. Very private. Plenty to do in nearby areas. The lodge itself was of a high standard and more than met our expectations. We would love to return. My only negative comment would be that it states BBQ facilities on booking.com but there was only a metal stand that I wouldn't have a clue what to do with other than place a disposable BBQ on. We did come with BBQ food and just cooked it on the oven which wasn't a problem.
