The Cartlodge B & B, hotel in Castle Hedingham

Offering a children's playground and views of the garden, The Cartlodge B & B is set in Colchester, 12 km from Colchester Zoo.

Nice and peaceful area, close to Colchester, Lavenham and Bury St Edmund which are defenitelly worth a visit. Check your bills in Lavenham, we were in two shops and local pub and they all tried to cheat us, I guess it is their way to treat tourists. The hosts are lovely and very welcoming people. We travelled 3 adults and one kid, I would say the room was a bit snug for 4 people, but we spent very little time in. Everything was spotlessly clean.

The White Hart, hotel in Castle Hedingham

With gardens, open fireplaces and traditional wooden beams, this beautiful 15th-century inn offers free internet and a 2 AA Rosette restaurant using local, seasonal ingredients.

This was our second visit and it did not disappoint. No table booked in advance as it was a last minute decision and upon arrival greeted with friendly staff who could not do enough for us. Luckily, they did manage to get us a table but with a warning they will need it back by 2pm. We arrived at 12pm so plenty of time. Service was exceptional, attention to detail was impeccable, food was divine, win was flowing, overall a superb afternoon. Thank you to the team. Arranging to come back again shortly and would highly recommend.

The breakfast was not comparable to a home cooked breakfast, This is because it was a home cooked breakfast. served with love and care or each guest. It felt like visiting home. The location was fantastic the garden led me down to a field with breathtaking British countryside views. with a bonus hand made stream leading to a pond.

Can't recommend this place enough! Location was lovely the views and set up was amazing, nice choice of breakfast fruit bowl on arrival and really delicious pastries delivered to the room in the morning, which was also lovely. We made use of the hot tub which was nice and private. Could not ask for anything more we had a really relaxing stay and will definitely be returning.

The location was perfect as I was attending a wedding at the Castle and the reception at the Memorial Hall. All within walking distance. The Old Pottery was beautiful. The room was lovely, as was the view. The breakfast was fantastic. Fresh fruit and yoghurt, full English, toast and jam, coffee, and fruit juice. All nicely presented. The host was fantastic and very accommodating.
