Glyntwrog House, hotel in Blaenau-Ffestiniog

Built in 1885, charming Glyntwrog House is located on the edge Betws-y-Coed, 15 minutes’ walk from the train station.

The room was very comfortable and clean, but what really made our stay special was the host, who was eager to share interesting information about the area, and my scrumptious breakfast of smashed avocado with smoked salmon on gluten free toast - his suggestion - which, especially for someone whose options are usually restrained by the need to avoid dairy and gluten, was a wonderful treat. The breakfast room was lovely and our table had a lovely view over the hills. On-site parking was much appreciated.

Sue and Mike are wonderful hosts! Their space is not only lovely and well located, but welcoming and cozy. In addition to our room and private bath, we were afforded a lovely sitting area just outside our room. Unfortunately, because of rain we weren’t able to use the lovely outdoor space in the garden, but they do offer a lovely outdoor space as well. Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning and there was plenty on offer. After checkout we were able to leave our car and go out for a hike in the surrounding woods. I recommend this, as it was very beautiful. Mike even lent us hiking poles to use to save my bad knee.

Loved the quaintness of this hotel. The staff were amazing Dan carried 2 heavy suitcases upstairs for us which was greatly appreciated. Restaurant staff were friendly and polite. It’s got a great community vibe to it. We were there on a Saturday night when the locals enjoy a few pints. It was a great atmosphere and all quiet by 11 ish.

Had the full breakfast first morning, sumptious and tasty with local bacon and free range eggs. Help yourself to toast, juice and fresh fruit with Welsh yogurt. Refills of tea/coffee. Great view from the dining room. Friendly, helpful staff. Our twin room was spacious and clean with a huge bathroom. Lovely and quiet.
