we loved it quirkiness, it’s not like staying in a hotel but in an artist’s boudoir. We loved Cecile who came to meet us on her bicycle and took us up to her boudoir and then invited us to have breakfast at her amazing main house in the village with a lovely garden and the most amazing view. Cecile is also a wonderful artist.

The building is in an ancient priory and looked like a castle - it was beautiful!! It was next to a river which we could walk to in a few steps. The restaurant next door had delicious food. Our bathroom was AMAZING - huge! The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We went to a medieval town thanks to the recommendation of one of the owners. Breakfast was very typically French (croissants, hot chocolate or coffee) and the dining area was gorgeous! I would go back there in a heartbeat, but would get a bigger bedroom.
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
A really stylish and well designed property. Everything one could want for a stay in this charming medieval town. We didn’t want to leave! The outside seating area was a real bonus too.
Everything! I can only confirm what most other reviews have said. This is exactly what a great chambre-d'hote should be like. Not jet-set luxury, but homey, clean, tastefully decorated and furnished, and attention to detail that I've rarely seen in any other accommodation. Add to that a friendly and interesting host, good breakfast, and central location, and it made the visit to Semur-en-Auxois worth the trip just for the accommodation itself.
In a great location for walking into the beautiful and historical town.
Claire was a super and friendly host, our room was huge, yet cosy and warm (-5 outside).
We loved the open plan and the big bath too. Very thoughtful extra touches, tea and coffee and toiletries. Breakfast is delicious, classically French and served in the charming lounge area. The whole property has oodles of character.
Our dog was made very welcome too.
The host, the setting and the cottage were all charming. Perfect for a pit stop on the way back from the Alps. The town itself is picture postcard and the cottage is very central, but on a quiet street. The surrounding countryside is great, and we enjoyed a day out at Parc de L'Auxois (approx 8miles away), which was perfect for our kids (4&6). I would highly recommend the accommodation and the setting.
This is a beautifully designed nest for two. On a traditional design the host himself built (he is a stone mason) the tower. It is very modern and comfortable inside, bordering on luxury. The host and hostess are very welcoming. A short walk takes you into a charming, unspoilt old town, complete with quiet river walk. It is very convenient for the motorway.
