Our room was very spacious and clean with a cozy balcony looking at the ski slopes. King bed was super comfortable. With exception of two ladies, the staff were very friendly and welcoming especially the lady attending the breakfast bar was so sweet and attentive. Their restaurant is pretty good, and breakfast selection was decent. It’s a quick drive to the center and shopping areas. The hotel is located almost at the Partnach gorge trailhead with several restaurants within a walking distance. It’s quiet unless there are ski practices which is actually fun to watch right from the balcony!

The staff are very nice. We arrived at evening, two staff warmly welcomed us with delicious cakes and ice cream. They also introduced the near around event to us. The lady at the breakfast is also very nice and helpful. My parents drink only hot water. She quickly provided support to us on this request. It is a fantastic experience to stay in the hotel. By the way, the hotel is close to the hiking weg. It is user friendly for hikers.

I used to live in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area and have friends who live just a couple blocks from this hotel. As someone who has spent years in this area, I always send friends to stay here when visiting the area. Hotel Gasthof Alter Wirt is one of the most affordable accommodations in this otherwise expensive part of Germany. The breakfast is nice and the rooms are comfortable. There is ample street parking and good wifi. Farchant is a lovely village and I definitely encourage people to stay here.

This was a quiet, peaceful hotel in a great location in town. They could not give us the room that was booked, so they upgraded us to an apartment nearby. The tables were full when we came for breakfast, so they brought us coffee while we waited. Their staff was incredibly kind and helpful.
