The house is striking and pink and all the taxi drivers know exactly where it is. As soon as you enter you can see this place is well organised, maintained, and decorated to a high standard. Dona Caurina and her assistant show you round.... the rooms are named after different islands in the group. Ours was Sto. Antao, that wild and breathtaking range of volcanic mountains just across the Sao Vincente channel, and a short hop on the frequent ferries. Breakfast is served between 8 and 10 - we are vegetarian and vegan respectively, and they even baked a special vegan sponge cake for us. Lovely fresh baguette, home made Marmolada or mango compote, fresh juice, coffee, fruit salad.... Well, it all keeps you going till the evening .
Above all, the welcoming attitude and friendliness is outstanding, and not unique in this land. As for value for money, this was the best we found in our independent three weeks on three islands .

Really lovely place with the added bonus of a private balcony ( you need to book this) high on the hill above Mindelo, you reach the cooling breeze and have the added advantage of watching the sun set from your private space.
