Beautiful and comfortable old hacienda with much character. Our family spent much time enjoying the garden and grounds that have a lovely vegetable and herb garden, ornamental plants, some ancient native trees, and many birds.
Excellent coffee, excellent food, and wonderful service from the host and cook staff. The staff at the Hacienda accommodated our vegetarian dietary request for dinner, and I believe they went out of their way to buy additional local produce for our dinner.
We selected Hacienda La Esperanza in part for its affiliation with the Aquiares Coffee Farm, the largest coffee farm in Costa Rica. The Hacienda is on a ridge with views of the hillside coffee farm and quaint company town. The Aquiares Coffee Farm tour, booked separately, was informative and enjoyable. Nestled in a beautiful valley this property is very peaceful and gives a sense of intimate connection with nature while being very accessible by CR standards. This is a bird watcher paradise and everything is done to enhance the experience, from well appointed bird feeders to landscaping designed for colibris and butterflies and an open architecture that captures all the morning calls. Within the span of 2 days we observed more toucans than i can count, hummingbirds of multiple species in their continuous display, and were reacquainted with the striking Oriole in its “winter” dwellings. This is an enchanting spot. The host Andrey is very knowledgeable and an accomplished bird and nature photographer. Breakfast and dinner were well done by a professionally trained chef. Staff is extremely welcoming and helpful.

We also did the optional horseback tour in the afternoon of our arrival, and it is justly named "Wonderlust." This is a beautiful working family farm which offers a special experience.

We visited for one night at a quiet time of year, not many other guests. The host was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the different birds (despite our limited Spanish). He cooked us a great breakfast. The room was large, rustic but clean and comfortable. We loved meeting the dogs too.
A lovely, quiet property great for relaxing. There were bikes available to borrow to get around the property. The rooms were nice and clean. The building is beautiful. We did a horse back riding tour from the property which was great - would recommend
Beautiful location on the hillside overlooking the valley. There were so many birds there. The beds were quite comfortable. The temperatures were quite comfortable even though it was fairly warm at lower elevations, There was a restaurant there for dinner if you wanted one. About 10 minutes away from the town of Turrialba but much quieter.
Beautiful property in small quiet town. Very kind and accommodating family run. Large room, very clean. Close to grocery store. Breakfast included was delicious. Highly recommend!

it’s a bit outside of the city center and it’s a more quiet and very beautiful, lovely place, run by a local family☺️ the rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. there two beautiful terraces with hammocks to enjoy the view on the volcano of turrialba. it’s a great place to rest and to get to know turrialba and Santa Rosa ☺️
