If you have the chance to go to Halong , forget about the big resorts and come instead to this Villa on a human scale, attentive staff, magnificent gardens, excellent kitchen and billard, Some steps to the beach, Valley bar… One of my best memories of Vietnam.

There is a complete kitchen and small dining setting, and everything was immaculately clean. The hostess kindly met me on site to hand over and collect keys which made access very easy. She has added appealing decor touches, including a considerate care package of toiletries, indoor plants and charming decorative items. The air conditioner works very well and the building is very safe and secure. It is in an apartment block with long-term residents so there is occasional noise but that is an authentic experience. There is a large shopping centre within walking distance, as are the limestone islets at the end of the road, with fishing boats able to provide tours on water for enjoyment. The local restaurants are very good and there are convenience stores on the same block for daily necessities. The apartment is very well positioned as a launch pad for singles and couples to enjoy the attractions Ha Long has to offer, away from the luxury hotel hustle and the tourist crowds. For $67 AUD for two nights, I thought this was a very good booking.
