This apartment looks nice in the pictures on Booking, and at the first impression in reality, but that's all positive there is. The apartment stinks from the sewers, both in the bathroom and in the kitchen, and it doesn't get better after several days of use. The floor was so dirty that you couldn't walk with bare feet without cleaning them directly afterwards. And there was no more equipment for cleaning than a broom. When you have to pay 100 € extra for cleaning after your stay you definitely expect to arrive to a clean apartment.
The apartment was sparsely equipped, e.g. there were no cutting board, no normal sized saucepan for 2 guests, no dishcloth, the spoon to serve was broken, the coffeemaker was broken, there were no sheets nor any fillings/blankets to keep you warm at night. The shower screen didn’t cover sufficiently and there was no shower curtain, so after the morning shower the bathroom was all wet and there where equipment to wipe the floor. To keep the light from the street out at night there were two interior blinds, but one was broken. There was a TV, but no programs available. The wifi was so weak that it didn’t cover the entire, and very small, apartment.

Apartamento Maria is a very large, clean, airy and comfortable apartment with wonderful views and easy access by car to the mountain trails. Maria was discreet, but attentive when we needed anything and we were appreciative of the fruit and cake on our arrival. We very much enjoyed our trip to Fanal Forest and highly recommend it to fellow travellers. We got there between 10.30am and 11.00am which was the perfect time to capture the trees emerging from the fog. It was such a magical experience, not to be missed! We also loved our hike to see the 25 fountains. The trail was quite hard going but worth it. There is a cafe on the route where you can enjoy a well deserved drink and cake afterwards and enjoy the breath-taking views. We would suggest you get the minibus from the cafe back to the car park to save walking 2.5k uphill at the end of your hike. The mini bus costs 5 euro and is well worth it. We also enjoyed a trip to the Natural Park where we enjoyed more hiking trails. The mountain views were spectacular and the cafe has epic views. Apartamento Maria is very well positioned to access all these wonderful places and a great base to return to for a relaxing drink on the balcony. There is also a restaurant next door which serves very good food and the owners are lovely and friendly and great hosts. All in all we were very happy at Apartamento Maria and highly recommend it.

Super clean, very spacious and had everything you needed and some smaller additional bonus things that make a difference like a coffee machine, extra blankets, cooking sauces/seasonings, and welcome gifts. Maribel was so warm and welcoming and couldn’t have been more helpful, getting a high chair and baby bath for us last minute, helping with our luggage and showing us where to park etc. Large terrace was a sun trap and beautiful to watch sunset. Groceries, pharmacy etc all within walking distance.

I had an amazing stay at this apartment—it exceeded all my expectations! As an architect, I truly appreciated the beautifully designed interiors and the stunning architecture of the house itself. This apartment, located on the upper floor, is a gem compared to the one on the ground floor, mainly because of the massive terrace with breathtaking views.
The host was incredibly kind and accommodating, always available to help. He provided us with a personal list of must-visit locations, and we chose Calheta for its promise of peace and tranquility. It was the perfect choice—after a full day of exploring, we returned to a serene oasis surrounded by nature.

The pool on the roof was the main attraction for us, also the view from the living room was fantastic.
It even inspired us to cook our seafood diner every evening during our stay thanks to fully equipped kitchen in the apartment.
Overall, we left the place with the best experience.
A beautiful, very modern house with every comfort. Very clean, we lacked absolutely nothing. The facilities far exceeded our expectations.
The owner is a very helpful and obliging host who kindly provided us with fruit, drinks, bread, cheese, etc.
Jardim do Mar is a very nice little place with everything you need. Joe's Bar is close by and serves delicious food.

Lovely comfortable apartment with fantastic views over the sea. Pretty village setting. We had a very peaceful few days stay gazing at the sea.. Everyting was good. Carrying luggage and shopping from the village car park down steps and the steps to the bedroom inside the apartment might be a drawback for some but did not bother us at all.
The location was very good with a great ocean view and the sound of the waves crashing. It was also relatively quiet. The size / space of the the apartment was good and some the fittings - the lights for example - were smart / trendy
The house is lovely. Everything we needed was there, including washing powder for the washing machine.
Michael left us a great starter selection of food - fruit basket, bread & jam and much more. It really made it easy after a long journey.
Michael let us know about all the facilities we may need - restaurants, supermarkets and if we had needed a doctor just to call him and he would go with us.
Loved Jardim do Mar. The residential areas are traffic free. We all parked in the town centre, just a short walk from the apartment.
Really nice, comfortable, spacious flat within a very tiny cosy village with narrow streets.
All rooms were very clean and tidy. The terrace area with different corners to relax, read a book, enjoy the view,.. is a real bonus. The hosting couple were very friendly and helpful and gave us some nice tips to do in the area.
