A Wonderful Stay at Tim Pappies- Alex’s Place
Our stay at Tim Pappies was amazing! It was everything we could have hoped for—a perfect combination of comfort and warm hospitality set against the breath-taking backdrop of Portland's lush natural beauty. We found the property using google map directions, helpfully provided by the host. The short road up to the accommodation was a bit rough, however it was just a few minutes from the main road. Surrounded by lush greenery, the serene setting was so picturesque. The amazing ocean view from our veranda, paired with Portland’s vibrant tropical landscape, were the perfect start to every morning. Our room was stunning (exactly like the pictures), with a large and super comfortable bed and lovely décor. A true retreat. The spacious, well-equipped kitchen made meal preparation very easy. The hosts were exceptional—friendly, pleasant, and incredibly helpful. They shared excellent tips on places to visit, including the chilled-out Winifred Beach, the magical Blue Lagoon, the best rafting spots, and where to find the best local food and restaurants. The complimentary weekend breakfast featuring fresh ackee and plantains from their property was delicious and a lovely touch. They also went above and beyond, providing fresh ingredients from their garden for us to cook, including spinach and okra, as well as giving us thoughtful extras like insect repellent. We also loved their adorable dog, Ghost, he quickly became our friend!
Portland’s beauty was on full display throughout our stay. We were just a short drive from Port Antonio for shopping and restaurants, as well as stunning beaches like Frenchman’s Cove and Winifred Beach (definitely recommend Winifred for a real local vibe.), and the enchanting Somerset Falls. These locations were reasonably priced, not overcrowded with tourists, and definitely worth visiting. Love the fact that this is a family owned establishment, that has been in their the family for generations.

We did not even stay as we got there and was asked do you want air con , I replied yes he then said that would be 75 dollars extra American dollars . I then refused and said I am happy with the rook I booked he showed me to a room with dated deco and I saw 2 lizards on entry . I said fine as I just wanted to get some where for the night . After my first bad experience. I then paid him and left the property I went to go to the shop to get water and he ran after the car stating he had made a mistake and had given me the wrong room and it was actually a smaller room
I was supposed to have , at that point I had to get out of the car and go and look at the new room what a joke . The room was absolutely tiny even though I had booked a 1 bedroom the gentleman was just trying to gain some cash and upsell everything the whole experience made me feel uncomfortable and I left and went and booked all nations guest house

Loved the size, perfect 3 bed apartment. Right in the centre of Port Antonio and shops, restaurants, jerk etc are all in walking distance.
Free parking and car is secure. The team were helpful and welcoming.

The apartment was quite cozy and clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. This place was exactly what we needed. The staff were warm and welcoming. Very good communication between staff and client. The owner was quite easy to talk to very accommodative and kind. Overall the experience was superb, I will definitely be going back not to mention the town is walking distance away...my family and I really enjoyed the experience.
The location was lovely, close to town, and the beaches. The view was gorgeous. It was a jamaican welcome, and jamaican style residence. They were kind to the dogs and cats and fed them. You could prepare food in the kitchen, store food safetly in the fridge. People around port antonio friendly, and we shopped with local people, locally in shops and the market, with no hassle or inflated prices .

The views are beautiful from the top apartment. The place was nicely decorated and had a homey feel. Had a decent little kitchen to cook meals. Big doors that opened to the balcony with views and windows all over. On days where there is a nice breeze you do not need a fan or AC. Richard who is from JA was extremely kind and hospitable and helped ease my stress after a long trip and drive to Port Antonio from Kingston.
Long Story short. Great Host Couple. Delicious Breakfast Offering. Fluently in English and German. Lovely Stay in the Hills of Port Antonio. Guided Tours by the Host are great. Also open for Deep Talk over every Topic you want to talk about. You also have this great Apartment to spend some Private Time without Disturbance. Great Place. Great People. I can recommend the Place to Everyone. It definetly wasn't my last Stay.
Marian was a very responsive host. The seaviews from the hostel are lovely. Breakfast was always very nice and nice sets of people arriving. Friendly atmosphere. Great place to chill. Marian also organises different activities. You have to get a taxi to Stony Hill Flats to get to the hostel. Marian will collect you. It is nice walking down. At night, you can see nice fireflies as one approaches the road to the hostel. Many thanks for your help, Marian.
The room is spacious. The location is good, next to main street. Staff is friendly. When my rental car got flat tire, staff went with me to find a repair shop to fix it.
