This was once a residential care facility that is being retro-fitted as seven individual flats, using modern fixtures and neat furniture - much from IKEA. And they really are self-contained and could be lived in long term - and come equipped with kitchen basics in terms of both tools and the kinds of ingredients you don't want to buy at every stop: pepper, oil, tea, coffee, milk, sugar. There's a full stove, dishwasher, and a smart TV. It's a very nice development and in a wonderful position, within walking distance to all that downtown Kirkcudbright has to offer - with two supermarkets, multiple take-out food outlets, countless galleries, and lovely gift and flower shops. If you're coming for a family occasion, call ahead to Lily Knowles Flowers and ask for Adele. Access is by easy electronic codes and a lockbox for the key, so arrival times are flexible - which can be a blessing given how hard it can be to predict cross country trips in Scotland. Kirkcudbright is also the home of Scottish Photography Hides which is well worth checking out for their award worthy professional photography opportunities. Just a neat location overall.

Nicki and her daughter were amazing and couldn't have been nicer. The apartment was very clean and the kitchen was fully equipped with good quality appliances.The beds were comfy and the area was great.

The apartment was lovely, had everything I needed to be comfy! Nicely decorated, great location (grocery store right around the corner). Carol (the host) was very friendly and responsive to my emails. All information for water, heat, tv, emergency #s, etc. were clearly explained and laminated.

Lovely little location, and a great place to stay. Surprisingly spacious for two and plenty to do on the farm. Really well equipped for you to have a total stress free stay.
In short, we thought everything was fantastic. The only thing is the small kitchen area made it a little tough to prepare meals for two. This isn't the property's fault though it's a very functional space. Just requires you settle into it. I should stress that this ISN'T a negative, just something we found.
For travelers who appreciate a space of their own at the end of the day, an apartment or flat is the perfect home away from home. Furnished rooms and kitchen facilities give groups and families the flexibility to enjoy downtime separately or plan the next day’s activities over a shared meal. Excellent location in the middle of the town. The staff were all very friendly plus, the room (in the loft) was clean and had a spacious ensuite. Easy street parking right outside.
The apartment was great. Clean,tidy and had everything we needed for our stay. We got a warm welcome from the owners when we arrived and had a quick tour of things. The farm and the animals make it a perfect place to unwind.
The bed is the comfiest we have slept in while travelling about the country. 5 stars for that alone.

This was a lovely apartment with everything we could possibly need. Everything was clean and modern with lots of treats left for us in the kitchen.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable and heating easy to operate. The private garden with seating area was a real bonus and a lovely spot to enjoy a drink when the sun came out. Very convenient for all that Kirkudbright has to offer.

The Cheeseloft is a great apartment on two levels with everything required for a quiet break. we loved the patio area where we could eat breakfast accompanied by a few chickens and one or other of the farm dogs, collie and fox-red Labrador. beautiful walks, a pool for wild swimming, and lots of peace and quiet. Fantastic hosts.
