Located between the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site and Blair Atholl, Stornoway Lodge offers self catering accommodations. We recently enjoyed a most comfortable and pleasant stay at Stornoway Lodge on our visit to Lanseria. After a long and difficult set of flights we were warmly welcomed by a team of staff who could not do more to help us feel relaxed and cared for on our arrival. We had some issues via our booking agent, which were entirely out of the control of venue, but the reception team were extremely assitive in reaching a solution and is testament their professional attitude. I must make special mention of Kiki and Thabani whose attention to detail and focus on personal touch runs deep in the values of their team. The accommodation was clean, spacious and superbly comfortable. We needed extra attention for laundry and sundries that were quickly met and meant we could move at our leisure as we prepared for a wedding ceremony in the local area without a worry. Breakfast each morning at the Fat Olive restaurant was a favourite occasion. Each day we tried something different and the food was fresh and delicious with generous portions. Someone was always nearby to assist with an extra coffee or another rack of toast. All members of the restaurant team have our thanks as each of them made us feel personally catered for. Our daughter enjoyed the child play facilities and the small farm which were close by and well maintained. During our stay we received a superb recommendation from the reception team to visit the nearby Lion and Safari park and we booked a two hour guided tour during feeding time that same day. The whole family throughly enjoyed this and is a must visit if you have availability to do so. If re-visiting the area we wouldn't hesitate to book in and stay at Stornoway Lodge again. Thank you again to Thabani, Kiki and all the team for a most pleasant and restful stay.

Reception took over 20min to check us in after botching up the booking. Service at the bar took 15 min after calling the barman twice. Supper on the first evening took 90minutes from ordering. The 2nd night we were woken at 1am by drunk guest who made a disturbing noise until 2am. One Morning we were charged R190 for breakfast for 3x people & the 2nd morning R450 for 3x people. Prior to check out I asked that they have my invoice ready. On check out the lady said she is jusy with something else and she will email it to me. I have not received it yet & it will probably take 10x phone calls if they answer. Overall the stay was disappointing . The competence & friendliness of the staff is not up to standard. I will not stay there again.
The bath tap is the best feature. Having a proper shade outside would be great seeing that we cannot really sit outside during the day because of direct sunlight. The bathroom floor outside the shower needs to be cleaned properly they are sticky and not clean at all
The lodge priority is with having day visitors and not for the guests. Totally over crowded with visitors which means the guests cant use the facilities. Loud music and private functions that carry on until 10pm at night and noise until midnight. False advertising of peaceful beak away lodge.
The worse things ever at Shumba Valley Logde 1.Breakfast was too bad unable to prepare on time.And what is being displayed at the advert is not true,they misled traveller's food is limited only one flavour of juice,few muffins on the displayed everything must be requested there's absolutely nothing especially when you request for omelet there is nothing for topping only peppers, no mushrooms is an embarrassment.
Lanseria is beautiful and surrounded with adventures, lakes, museums, arts, lots of restaurants and farm villages, bush lodges and animal sanctuaries. Try Fat olive restaurant, culinary table restaurant, Maggie's farm restaurants, hartebeespoort, cradle of the humankind, etc...lots of places to visit and things to do.
I really liked that the accommodation accommodated my request. There was a cot for my son. The following morning the pipes were frozen because it was so cold, they extended check out to accommodate for that issue. Really enjoyed the fact that Martha ensured all our needs were met.
