Was welcomed by a friendly receptionist during check in. Our room was being upgraded as well! The room is quite equipped will all the facilities needed for our short stay. There's animals like poney and alpaca around which makes our stay memorable.

The beach access, wild and rugged, easily accessible along the coast. If you into photography plenty of opportunities for great photos or painting. The kids loved the glow worms, it was not a big walk to view them - 20 meters of the roadside and free, you are able to make a donation at start of the trail for maintenance and upkeep of track, which would be wheelchair accessible. We went to the local picture theatre, seating and service very good. The glass blowing is amazing to watch, the kids and adults were quite intrigued. Shanty town was a great day trip, riding the train, learning early history of the coast - the best scones and coffee in the cafe, coming back to our base in Hokitika. If you are planning to dine in Hokitika then I would advise you book on arrival if you are spending a couple of days, if just overnight then google and book before you arrive, at evening dinner you are in competition with bus tours.
Such a cool wee town. Everything was close and easily accessible. So much to see and also in the surrounding area. Loved the treetop walk, which about a 16 minute drive from our accommodation, Shining Start Beachfront Accommodation...whicn i also highly rate. Also stopped at a beautiful lake on the way back!
Great little town on the West Coast! The town itself is small, but has several good dining options. Plenty of local places for a day trip such as, Hokitika Gorge, Lake Kaniere, Lake Mahinapua in addtion to plenty of bike trails and nature walks.
I was born in Hokitika Hospital, I left here in 1981 at 14, with my parent and 2 brothers, I always love coming back home, and to stay in such an amazing room, which was cosy, comfortable bed, and a TV, love it, will be back
There is so much to do in Hokitika. Wish we could have stayed longer. The high light for us was doing the 6 Glacier Helicopter Flight. There isn’t enough words to describe how fabulous it was. If you get the chance to go, just do it!

The beach is ideal for leisurely strolls, with its soft sands and breathtaking sunsets. We also loved searching for jade stones, adding a touch of adventure to our visit. Overall, Hokitika is a wonderful spot to unwind and appreciate nature's beauty.
