Amazing views from the windows of the snow capped mountains, nice woods to walk around in, and a treehouse for the kids to play in make this a must stay while in the area.

The place is located in a farming land. It is very quiet and peaceful, which brings back my memory of the time I went to visit my grandparents in the rural area. Everything you need is there, very clean and tidy. Big space, more than enough for 4 of us. If we have a chance to visit the easten part of Hokkaido again, I will definitely want to stay here again.

Featuring free WiFi, Shoei backpackes hostel is a guest house in Teshikaga, 17 km from Lake Mashu. Free private parking is available on site. Suzuki and his wife were really accommodating picking us up from the train station and even lent us a bicycle and fishing rod each so that we could explore teshikaga and the nearby lakes and mountains, great service can't wait to come back 👍

Surrounded by mountains, lakes and the great wilderness of Hokkaido, Mashuko Youth Hostel offers simple accommodation with free WiFi access. Lake Mashu is a 16-minute drive from the hostel. I wholeheartedly recommend the Mashuko youth hostel, the owner and his family do all the best to make your stay as comfortable as possible! They have vast knowledge about Asan park and it's neighbourhood, plus are very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for hiking and if you want enjoy the wildlife - I saw a fox and deers a couple of times. It's ideal location to visit Mashu lake and climb the Mashu mount, however if you want to visit the other lakes: Kussharo and Akan I recommend renting a car or a mountain bike. Still I really enjoyed staying here and thinking about coming back here in future. Arigato gozaimasu!
