Set in Ermoupoli, Villa Marenosta offers self-catering accommodations with a terrace and a garden. The unit is 2 mi from Saint Nicholas Church. Very beautiful property, with a dream view of the city together with some areas of the island. The hosts are very welcoming and kind (thank you once again), they picked us up from the ferry and gave us a short tour of the city, upon arrival they welcomed us with a cocktail and cookies. The apartment consists of 2 rooms and a small kitchen equipped with everything you need. The rooms are very clean and very nicely decorated inside and outside. It is located a 15- 20 minute walk from the bus station (buses are free all over the island), the taxi is cheap (between 5-7 eur to the center). We went on the first day by bus, the second day by taxi and bus, the third day by rental car (50 eur/day). I recommend renting a car for at least one day because there are many areas or beaches that cannot be covered by bus or on foot. We recommend this property and these wonderful people, we will definitely come back to stay longer. Wonderful property - wonderful people.

Confusing streets when walking around/ finding restaurants. Excellent, big Lidl on the waterfront- brilliant to be able to buy groceries at prices nearer to English prices. Did find a lovely, traditional restaurant a few streets behind the port. Port itself very busy with bars and restaurants, looks nice with the lights on the water at night but too garish for us. Buses along to beaches cheap but not very frequent. We never got the hang of the free bus to the top of the town but good in theory. We did walk up via the many steps and were glad we did. Very peaceful around the churches ,absolutely no one else there. Great views. Azolimnos very nice beach( if not windy !) . Several bars and restaurants. Bargain is to buy a beer at the mini market and sit at their outside tables to drink it. We found this set up in several places around the island, brilliant. Swimming platform in town not as good as the write ups would have you believe. No free loos/ changing places that we found and restaurant prices outrageous. But nice to cool off after walking back down the steps in that direction. Pretty views of waterfront old houses.
Winding roads crisscross this uniquely hilly Cyclades island, and here on the west coast you can find the best sunsets. The horseshoe cove of Kini beach is the main attraction IMHO having stayed here and travelled up the coastline (by boat to some quiet beaches) and down (by bus) on way round to the capital. With soft fine sand and just the right amount of tavernas and tourists to retain the Greek feel, it's a good place to stay for 3-5 days.
Vari is a small beach with two restaurants and three cafe's/bars and two convenience stores. It is about 15 minutes from Ermopolis and has a bus stop with regular bus service. The beach is protected from the north-east winds and has excellent clear water. Vari beach is popular with families.
Ano Syros is the typical place one would expect from Greece. Classical houses, beautiful flowers, small narrow streets, churches, donkeys and wind mills. It is picturesque and quiet, with hardly any tourists to be found (this was early November). The climate was just perfect with 23 degrees.
Syros was a family friendly place, yet still had night life for young ones. It feels part Greek/part Italian. Loved the architecture, little shops, BEST FOOD, inexpensive, great beaches. My new favourite island.
Kini was the perfect mix of Greek style beach resort and traditional village. Not too flashy but with many nice restaurants and an amazingly crystal clear beach. It is easy to walk around the whole village and beyond to other beaches nearby. We ate mostly in our villa but enjoyed meals on the beachfront at restaurants serving traditional Greek food at a good price. A great place to stay.
