A beautiful property in a delightful thatched cottage village. It was ideally situated for us as we were attending a family funeral in one of the local villages. Very friendly welcome. The rooms are all beautifully furnished using high grade materials. All extremely clean and tidy. There was a good choice of fruit, cereals and pastries for breakfast but a menu would have been helpful with regard to the cooked option. However once prepared this was very tasty using good quality local produce. Overall I would definitely recommend this property.
Interesting and attractive Cambridgeshire market town. We were only over-nighting, so didn't have the opportunity to investigate the town's attractions. The riverside looked especially pretty. Definitely enough promise to tempt us back for a day trip.
Reception and booking in was very pleasant and efficient. The room was warm. The bar and evening meal staff were great. The evening meals were really good and they had a nice beer on draught. The shower was too hot or cold; no in-between. The walls are paper thin, meaning I could hear phone calls, taps and toilet visits of next door rooms during the night. Windows and curtains are basic, so I heard people walking past from early morning. Breakfast was lovely.
A well refurbished single storey property in extensive grounds of a large family house, abundant secure parking - great for classic cars! We ate a delightful dinner, chosen from an offering of modern dishes and traditional fare, at the pub at the end of the short approach lane - no car needed! Worth booking a visit to The Manor (almost next door) to hear the stories of Green Knowe and Lucy Boston’s life in one of the oldest houses in England - fabulous! (and there are plants for sale!!)
I like the mix of little shops and cafes, and there are lovely walks by the river and beyond. We enjoyed the fabulous food at the Italian restaurant on the waterfront, and its a good idea to book, it’s very popular. It’s very easy to get around, with a lot of paved walk ways, and we walked everywhere. I was disappointed in the amount of larger shops that have closed, but sadly this is the same in many small towns, so I am not being critical of St Ives.
Hemingford grey is a beautiful village not from the quaint town of St ives ,plenty of lovely walks along by the river ,the cock public house is amazing and the food is probably the best we had in year ,highly recommended if staying in Hemingford grey.
