We were visiting friends who provided transport for us. I think local buses would get you into Annecy, which is the main attraction, fairly quickly but a car would be preferable. Some shops in Pringy centre within walking distance and supermarkets not far away. Close to motorway and access to surrounding countryside.
Charming old town with lots of bustle, restaurants, bars and great shops and fantastic views of the lake and surrounding hills and mountains. After a couple of days the old town and lake will have given you their best. If you stay longer you will need to venture further afield
Beautiful historic old part of the town - all easy to reach from Hotel Carlton. The City Bus Tour gives the history of Annecy. Plenty of places to eat out whatever your budget. Good place for couples and families alike as there are plenty of activities going on - especially around the lake. Visited in September. Boat trip on the lake not to be missed. The atmosphere in the evening feels just as ‘safe’ as during the day and is beautifully lit. It does get busy with tourists so eat early or book ahead for restaurants in old town.
This is a located in the centre of the old town on a canal. Very convenient for any plan to explore Annecy. The accomodation is clean and the staff were amazingly helpful whenever we wanted assistance. I lost my phone and they were very helpful in my search and retrieval! Restaurant is first class and their breakfast is fantastic to get you started on your day. Very strong recommendation. Would return soon!
We loved Annecy. Arrived on a Sunday in late September and it was bustling. The lake is beautiful for a stroll along with the gardens. Very good food. Don't just confine your visit to the old city, the town is very nice as well. We came on the train from Paris and left on the train for Geneva. Glad we added this stop to our trip. I could have spent an extra day but one day was sufficient given our shcedule.
First - the location is excellent - right in the heart of town. Second, you must realize that your room is over a restaurant. To get to your room you must go through that restaurant. Surprisingly the noise level coming from below was not that bad. The room itself was very nice and large. The breakfast was very generous and good. You won't want lunch because it is so hearty. I would recommend staying here as long as you are okay with staying over a restaurant.
