It's a very pretty town. The lake is very nice. I did a full tour of the lake on foot. I stayed for 4 days, which was a bit too long. I think 2 or 3 days are enough. If the weather would have been better (it rained quite a bit) I would have taken at list one day trip, so then 4 days would have made sense.
We were visiting friends who provided transport for us. I think local buses would get you into Annecy, which is the main attraction, fairly quickly but a car would be preferable. Some shops in Pringy centre within walking distance and supermarkets not far away. Close to motorway and access to surrounding countryside.
Lovely place, beautiful views, great walking round the lake and doing a boat trip, all in a healthy environment. Good to visit in November as there are less tourists and we were lucky with the weather - Annecy was beautiful in the sun . I think often people are put off by the many tourists in the old town and restaurants. People were welcoming and friendly. We went up to the Chateau Menthon St Bernard by bus, and foot - was not very clear for finding the route up the hill to the castle on foot, but we did it and it was worth it as the guided tour of the chateau was very good. In general better to visit without the car as it seems parking could be difficult.
The lakes and the surrounding mountains were beautiful. The old town was interesting and the marketplace was fun. The town was very pretty with many flower displays in October. The canals/streams running through town added to the town's charm.
My favorite city in the whole France! I think it is perfect and has everything one might need - a wonderful and old city center, a lake you can ride or run around and can swim in summer, some shops and a perfect atmosphere.
None of us had visited Annecy before. It is a beautiful city and I would highly recommend a visit. We stayed in Annecy and took the bus on some days to La Clusaz for skiiing. We were able to enjoy both the ski resort and the city of Annecy. It is a fantastic city for walking. Great cafes and restaurants, beautiful scenery. Not sure why we hadn't managed a visit before Dec 2024. Its a must see and we all agreed that a return visit is in order.
