Stayed here for a few nights because an AirBnB fell through, ended up residing at the hotel for my entire stay after my first two nights impressed me so much. Friendly hosts, with amazing breakfasts in the morning. The wifi is fast and reliable, I work remotely as a writer, and take lots of video calls, so this was great. The view on the street is pleasant, and the yard area in the back is just amazing. Super comfortable area with a garden and plenty of comfortable outdoor seating. The area is incredibly quiet, the loudest sound in the entire place is the ticking of the clock. The rooms are large and spacious which is such a pleasant contrast to many hotels. The hosts often played nice jazz or other music through a speaker in the common area for guests, you can tell they really care about the atmosphere and ambiance. I would live here if I could!

The best was the ease of pedestrian access around the city, the "old feel" of the place (just wait for the cashed up ignorarmasis to start knocking down the old like they have done in Yerevan in the name of development). I also missed knowing there was a recital by the national orchestra during my stay. The worst was the packs of dogs which roam around the city. They are anti-social and should be culled.
A beautiful city with very unusual buildings that are made of contrasting black and orange tuff (volcanic rock) The central square is really lovely with some great places to sit, have a meal and watch life in Gyumri. If you are interested in history, it is a most fascinating city to visit. Beautiful churches and the Black Fort which was built in Tzar Nicholas of Russia’s time in the 1830’s which is a must see along with Mother Armenia standing above a beautiful cascade that was so beautiful sitting in the shade on a warm summers day looking around enjoying the view and peaceful tranquility. For something hugely fascinating and wondrous check out the Iron Fountain which is a Soviet era construction. Built in 1982, it was the only structure to survive the devastating Spitak earthquake in 1988 that destroyed 80% of the buildings in Gyumri. Just tragic. Such a shame this fountain no longer functions as in its day it would have been magnificent! It’s still really impressive and something to behold. Gyumri train station is also definitely worth a visit. Very grand indeed. It is quite easy walking around Gyumri or getting a GG.
Beautiful and Charming city full of history with plenty to see and admire. Make sure you also visit the "Ponchig Monchig" restaurant to sample and enjoy a sweet dessert by the same name, it's delicious.
It is a small, cute city, everywhere can be reached by walking. If you are lazy, you can take a taxi (via Yandex application). I think this city may have one of the cheapest taxi prices in the world. Spending 2 days in this city is quite enough, you can visit everywhere in two days. You may get bored on the third day. You will have a lot of trouble with the food. There are not many alternatives. (herbs & honey tea-shop restaurant) is a place that is both delicious and affordable. You can also buy pure honey. Some places were too expensive, their prices were at the level of European cities. But most of the food prices are affordable
Gyumri is the most cultural city of Armenia,. In Gyumri there are many architectural buildings of 18-19th century, many walkable streets in the centre and lot of glorious restaurants and cafeterias! Also Gyumri is well known by his Christian monasteries, tyey located in the centre of Gyumri.
My stay at the Shiraz Plaza Hotel & Spa in Gyumri was exceptional. The hotel's luxurious ambiance and warm and professional staff made for an unforgettable experience. The rooms were spacious, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated, offering comfort and elegance. The spa facilities were outstanding, providing a serene escape with a variety of treatments that left me feeling rejuvenated. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was a delight, with a diverse menu featuring delicious local and international dishes prepared to perfection. The hotel's location was also ideal, situated conveniently close to Gyumri's main attractions, allowing easy exploration of the city's rich cultural heritage.
