Blankenberge is Belgium’s most popular seaside resort and has a lively atmosphere day and night. Its prominent pier is the only one in the country and despite its long length, at low tide the North Sea recedes almost as far as its circular tip, exposing a wide stretch of sand.
In summer this golden resource becomes moulded into incredible works of art during the Sand Sculpture Festival, on a sheltered site opposite the Sea Life Centre Belgium.
More creatures live in the Serpentarium, just along the beachfront promenade from Blankenberge Casino. To either side are a host of high-rise buildings containing shops, restaurants and sea-view hotels and apartments on Booking.com.
To the south-west the promenade ends at the access channel to the large marina and the surrounding streets offer more accommodation options, some with their own swimming pool.
