temple ws awesome architecturally - such a huge structure with so many deities and stories -sculpted pillars and beautiful idols are astonishing.
terrible crowd and management - we waited in line for a 1/2 hr @ 6:30-7 mrning while agents piled up their clients in front ofthe que, the people themselves didnt care for the line and pushed thru, etc- very unpleasant experience. and due to the crowd, we were allowed a few seconds of darshan! the placeis terribly hot very early in the mrning, and small roads etc wont allow any 4-w exploration drives around . but thankful for the opp. to visit . couldnt get time to climb up the hillock next and opposite etc- maybe next trip!!!

It is an ancient Shiva temple town.
It is an ancient Shiva temple town. To enjoy the temple atmosphere enter the temple at Brahma muhurtam and the witness the Gau pooja (buy the ticket of Rs 50/- per person), first darshan of Shiva and then Ma Parvati, the suprabhatam chanting and then participate in circumbulation with beat of drums, cymbals and shehanai of the inner temple with Ma Parvati. Har Har Mahadev!

Visited the SriKalahasti temple to perform certain special poojas. The temple is quite clean. Putting some good signboards and at appropriate places would be very helpful. You need to keep your footwear and mobile phones in lockers , which is the first queue you will come across. Better leave yr mobile phones with your hotel manager and save time. There is a common queue for visitors to enter temple. Once inside the temple, there is a counter " Abhishekam Tickets" on the right immediately after entry. Gho pooja tickets are also sold here. Rahu Ketu pooja tickets are sold in separate counters ( rates low to high ) further inside the temple. There are bottleneck areas in the darshan queue that slow down movement. These can be better planned. Temple staff hang round everywhere to upgrade you to a VIP for a price. You can thus jump queues and get Pooja tickets without standing in line. The queue arrangement in the prasadam area is a farce, given the fact that we Indians are great at jumping queues and bulldozing our way through , without any consideration for flow pilgrims. The shops and bathroom areas are nicely separated and clean , so that does not intrude with the temple activities. If you want to have darshan of all the main deities , be prepared to stand in long queues, especially on auspicious days, unless you are willing to pay up to get into premier queues. Could be taxing for children and elders. We were there on a Pournami Monday .
As for the town , generally neat . The roadside eateries are very average. You would find the needy lined up nicely outside the temple. Ensure you get them some food. They do not pester you. Good filter coffee I could not find. Tea was a disappointment. The Trinetra restaurant 300 m from the temple was clean and food was okay. You drive into town and a guy near the temple would charge you Rs 60 ( vehicle tax ? ). No mosquitoes here

Srikalahasti is a famous religious place and people from all over the country/ world come here for darshan and Puja, especially the Rahu Ketu Puja. The temple is well maintained and the Pantulus (Pujaris) performing the Puja was extremely good and they know Hindi as well and explain the meaning of every Shloka in Hindi for Hindi knowing pilgrims. I would like a word about the PRO Mr Mayur who was very helpful.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Brigade Hotel! The room was incredibly comfortable, and the location was perfect - just a short walk from the temple. I was impressed by the high standards of cleanliness and the exceptional staff, who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was pleasant. But what really stood out was the delicious food, which was not only tasty but also expertly prepared with a focus on hygiene. Highly recommended!"
