Ohakune is a beautiful part of the North Island of New Zealand. There is a lot to do in terms of outdoor activities. The Alpine Motel was a reasonably priced, presentable and clean motel for our family. We highly recommend two restaurants that we went to Osteria Ohakune (Italian) and Rice Bar and Food (Thai).

Interesting coffee shop the Kebab shop.

Interesting coffee shop the Kebab shop. Piano's to play and books of NZ to browse through would be interesting to visitors to browse through. It's easy to get around with a Carrot park for kids. Views of the snowcapped Mount Tongariro and Pihanga were great.

I love Ohakune for its small town quality. It is close to the mountain and ideal for booking/taking trips in and around the area. Nice selection of eating places and a well-stocked supermarket, and enough shops for essentials.

This was our third stay at Ohakune which many might regard these days as a winter resort town but is also a fun place for mountain biking both down the mountain and over the 'Old Coach Road'. Ohakune also provides convenient access to walking trails in and around National Park including the Tongario Crossing.

We visited Ohakune to see the snow.

We visited Ohakune to see the snow. Its a small town with everything close together. Everyone was friendly and keen for a chat. The locals speak highly of their town and its a beautiful location. The kids loved the giant carrot park and i loved that the stream is right next to it. So relaxing & clean. The view of the snow mountains are postcard perfect and if you are from a hot Aussie town you can really appreciate the beauty of this place.

The layout is great for family groups with Two Queen rooms and a bunk room sleeping up to 6z Additionally there are 2 seperate living areas so kids can watch movies while parents char around the fire ( open split level the house heated quickly and well) Two bathrooms one on each floor . Excellent Value( kitchen has full cooking and theres a drying room) It wasn’t walking distance to town but Ohakune is small so just a quick drive to cafe / restaurants and village ski sheds etc.

The room was spacious and had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable enough, although the pillows were lumpy. Considering I traveled alone, the TV in the main section of the room was great as well. It's located right in the centre of town, close to everything you could need and there are lots of recommendations for restaurants and spa services. As far as probably-more-motel-than-hotel goes, you could do worse than the Snowhaven.

We stayed here as a family for 2 nights. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We liked it so much that we are booked to come back next week. It is definitely the best place for us that we have found so far in Ohakune.

The room was gigantic and the view out of our sliding glass door was amazing. The shower was huge with great water pressure. The hotel provided necessities like milk and bread. Very comfortable bed!
