We came for the Legacy Museum and its other sites.
We came for the Legacy Museum and its other sites. It was a hard, important and necessary history of the barbaric enslavement of 12 million
Africans. Human Beings. Men, women and children!! It will take me forever to recover.

Even if it's Alabama State Capital, the city of Montgomery is really quiet and everything is reachable at walking distance.
Definitely worth a visit if you want to understand better about Civil Rights and the Movement that grew along.

There is a lot of history in Montgomery, with civil rights museums, the original White House of the Confederacy and F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald's home. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the pandemic or more people working from home, the city has been hollowed out. Most of its shops are closed and it can seem like a ghost town when one walks from museum to museum.

The Legacy Museum, Memorial for Peace and Justice, and the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park are all moving and inspiring. The technical sophistication as well as the content of the exhibits in the Legacy Museum, the power of the art in the sculpture park (also great artworks in the Legacy Museum), and the Memorial are all terrific. They will change how you see the history of our nation and strengthen your commitment to justice and equality. We also visited the Freedom Rides Museum--a small and yet deeply moving site. We would have liked to have spent more time in several of these sites and also to have seen the Rosa Parks and Hank Williams museums and Dexter Avenue Church.

Montgomery was surprisingly rich with history.
Montgomery was surprisingly rich with history. Was particularly intriguing as both a center of slaveholder south, the capital of the Confederacy, and the history through the current state of affairs for civil rights.
I particularly enjoyed The Legacy Museum and its three separate locations and exhibits that infused a deeper understanding of the history and brutality of slavery, human nature, and the effort to both achieve equality and the active resistance to keep the status quo. As a white southerner by heritage, I was only vaguely aware, that is not really aware of reality of slavery. It was enlightening and transformative.
Wish I could have stayed longer to visit the other history museums and the nearby key civil rights sites. Will return.

The house was advertised as a two bedroom house with all the amenities but the house turned out to be a shared house with the owner I refused to share a house with someone I did not know. That is not what I reserved I want the money I paid for the advertised house back sense it turned out to be a shared property.

This was by far the worst hotel have ever seen. Filthy - not only would the door not lock it wouldn’t stay closed. Had to put a chair under the doorknob. 1/2 roll of toilet paper - no extra toll. The towels were nastier than the ones I throw in my dogs house! There were holes in the sheets - the bathroom floors looked like they had never been cleaned! Totally disgusting. No ice in the machine - if it wasn’t for an injured passenger needing to rest I would never have stayed.
The location and the rate was in line with expectations. The owner and operator were great and was very honest that the hotel is under their new management. We were less critical since this property is in the midst of a major renovation. I am sure within time, he will address some of the deficiencies. It takes time. It check all the boxes that me and my family needed for an overnight stay. Cant wait to see the future changes, I am sure it will be great!
This place was gross. We didn’t even stay - checked in and checked out again right after we saw the room. The beds felt damp, the room smelled like chlorine and fake deodorizer. The whole hotel has a weird smell. Everything was old, and the furniture was chipped. Did not look at all like the photos.
Nice newish hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms. On the outskirts of the city but excellent location for the through traveller. Breakfast was ok. The service was good. Would recommend as good value.
