Salvador is fascinating and interesting for all the reasons you probably already know. There is much to do and see.
The only downsides are the high humidity and heat which makes day time explorations a bit taxing and safety issues. I found the main tourist locations to be well policed and safe, but if you stray from these you must be very careful. Ideally be in the company of local Brazilians who can help navigate the city safely.
I loved Casa da Mae in Rio Vermelho, great atmosphere, awesome music, nice food and safe.
I found the local people more reserved and more challenging to connect with than in Sao Paulo. I sense this is due to the 'tourist' nature of the city.

Carnival in Salvador, Bahia is a must! You'll have to experience it for yourself. My favorite town was Rio Verlehmo, Ubers are affordable, and motorbikes, are the way to go. I enjoyed walking, you get to experience more of their stores, restaurants.

Salvador is an incredible place.
Salvador is an incredible place. Lots of history, culture and friendly people. Would definitely recommend as a destination. Just be sure to have some basic Brazilian Portuguese phrases handy, as English is not widely spoken at all.

We were warned by everyone, including hotel staff and friends, that Salvador is a dangerous place. This made it difficult for us to enjoy the city's beauty without any concerns. However, we decided to take a City Tour with a group to learn more about the city and identify the places we wanted to visit again. The city tour gave us a better understanding of the city, which helped us appreciate it more. Go to Pelourinho, Igreja do Bonfim and Farol da Barra.

Salvador is such a vibrant place full of life, beautiful views, cityscapes, landscapes, architecture, culture, food, beaches and ocean views. I visited Salvador Shopping multiple times for both shopping and for dining.
The breakfast was the best thing about this hotel. Tasteful, local, diverse and changes everyday, we loved it.
The location in Rio Vermelho is great with many restaurants and bar nearby. Also safe to walk at night so that was a big PRO. The hotel, although nice, was not exactly as the pictures showed but we still enjoyed spending time there very much.
Also the staff of ''Prive Turismo'' Rose, was very friendly and helped us chose interesting tours to do while in Salvador.
Location was ok, it is in a very nice and safe place (in Salvador, it counts) and the view can be great if you are at the right side of the hotel (Unfortunately, I wasn´t...). The area for breakfast is really charming, with a nice view of the bay, and there were lots of marmosets! (I know, they can be a nuisance, but I love them).
Location was top for exploring the Pelourihno - the staff were very friendly and we were able to have a long conversation about the Salvador, Bahia and Brazil more generally which we appreciated. the decoration and is top and everything very well put together
The hotel is nice and cozy, amazing breakfast - everything fresh ans delicious -, and very welcoming staff (thank you Leticia!).
The rooms are minimalistic and overall comfortable. The location is quite close to the Barra’s lighthouse (Farol da Barra).
