A great neighbourhood to experience authentic life in another country and culture. Weekends are festive in the area with lots of activity at the local bars and cafes. Not many tourists around though... more elderly population noticeable.

Only a few minutes drive to the top of the Bilbao Funicular railway where there is free parking and every 15 minutes takes you down into the heart of Bilbao for around 4,50euros including return trip..
Very comfortable beds. Very clean modern hotel. Suitable for one or two nights.
Inexpensive breakfast for €8. Meats/Cheese/boiled eggs pastries, breads, juices, yogurts and good coffee.
Restaurant one minute walk away for evening dinner.
Very clean hotel with friendly staff who spoke good English. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was good. Shuttle bus between hotel and airport worked excellent and helped a lot.
The actual building is old-style and feels like staying in a Communist-era hotel. But the room is spacious and recently decorated. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
