After the first afternoon in Hanoi, my wife and I thought we'd made a mistake to book three nights (ended up being 4). Then we decided not to rush, to take our time. If you do that and get used to your immediate neighborhood, you get a sense of familiarity and we liked that. Pick 2 or 3 things to do each day but just WALK and stop at any of the MANY coffee shops cafes. Unwind a bit. Have fun dodging the traffic (everyone does this).

Hanoi was a little bit of everything.
Hanoi was a little bit of everything. At first, it's very overwhelming; the horns & motorbike racing, but then you start to get a grip of it and then you start appreciating the chaos that is Hanoi; an amalgamation of old and new ;a riot of smells & colours. A symphony of culture & history clashing with high rises & modern cafes. You have it all here, from beautiful churches to chaotic markets to sprawling planned cities to UNESCO heritage sites, to good food to amazing coffee. Hanoi, really is an experience to be had.

Hanoi was an assault on the senses—at first, it felt overwhelming, but after a few days, we had adjusted to it. We stayed in the Old Quarter, which we enjoyed. We loved Train Street, both when a train was scheduled and when it wasn't (they have different vibes). I think my favorite thing we did was to go to the Hanoi "Hilton" (the prison where Americans were imprisoned during the Vietnam war, but where originally the Vietnamese people themselves were imprisoned by the French). We enjoyed shopping in the night market near the lake in the Old Quarter and just walking through the city. I delighted in trying the pho, chocolate egg cream (a hot drink made with whipped egg yoke), and green tea ice cream. We mostly walked, but we did use the Grab app (downloaded ahead of time) to book taxis.
Americans: download WhatsApp before you go—that's how the rest of the world communicates (instead of text messages and iMessage) and it'll be invaluable to you as you communicate with your hotel and other services.

Sadly there is terrible air pollution that according to the air quality report was just off lethal ! Factories are allowed to release waste into the air and the smell and pollution was terrible. The sun is blocked out day after day by the pollution, there are no birds , no butterflies and i dont recall seeing a live insect. The temperatures are colder than the other cities i visited as the smog hangs over the city blocking out the heat. This prevented us from doing anything, though a guy from a local restaurant showed my husband the menu in one hand whilst showing him a naked girl on his phone !! Take masks if you go. The photo i attach is of a famous lake in Hanoi with a temple in the middle, you can barely see the temple and that is the pollution causing the fog around . Saigon was much better, beautiful and clean. I felt very sorry for the people in Hanoi who have to breathe that in.

Hanoi is a crazy, messy, beautiful, interesting and exciting place. There is lots to see, lots to eat and a lot to take in, as the city is just so very busy. Historical architecture is beautiful, people are wonderful and the history and sense of place is fascinating. A great staging point to begin a Vietnam trip.

Hanoi comes alive in the evening.
Hanoi comes alive in the evening. The night market is a great experience. Ta Hien street and Luong Ngoc Quyen is where all the fun is on a Saturday night. It’s filled with bars, restaurants, clubs, you name it. They have all sorts or affordable food and drinks available. For the football fans, theres a sports bar at then end of Ta Hien street where tons of people are seated in front of a gigantic screen watching football and drinking beer. Getting around was fairly easy. We mostly walked and took a taxi using the grab app when necessary. A short stay in Hanoi is enough. 1 to 2 days during the weekend will do.

The hotel is very well located, right in the city center, just few steps to the Puppets Theater, Hoan Kiem Lake and Old Quarter. The room was very clean, the beds were very comfortable. Also the breakfast was very tasty and varied (the best hotel's breakfast that we've got until now in Vietnam). The staff was very friendly and helpful, they helped us to organize the transport to the airport very early in the morning in very reasonable price) and prepared for us breakfast to take away. Highly recommended place in Hanoi!
Perfect location and kind staff.
We arrived after 22 hours flight and had the best night sleep in this hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were so kind! Sunny provided us with recommendations, advice and ideal plans. She sent me a pdf of a guide she had been working on!
The hotel is perfectly located in the old quarter but not on a too busy street.
The skybar was enjoyable because it overlooked the city and had a pool!
Really recommend if you’re staying in Hanoi!
We had an excellent experience staying in this Hotel, the room is quiet and perfect, the bed is amazing, and the best shower, the location is perfect in the old quarter, excellent breakfast and all the staff were amazing with us, they helped with everything, efficient, quick, and friendly service.
They made our stay in Hanoi 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to Justin 🙌 look after us very well.
The best part of the hotel is the Staff Jenny and Jimmy need more than 5 stars for their hospitality.
The breakfast staff were very attentive as well and always catered to our requirements.
Location is FAB in the old Quarter walkable to everything.
Thank You for
A wonderful stay
I stay in Hanoi at least twice a year so I had my fair share of experiences in Hanoi hotels in the old quarter. This is the best one I have ever stayed at & will be staying only here from now on. :)
