I enjoyed the location because it wasn’t in the heart of the city and allowed some peace and quiet in the outskirts. The heated floors in the bathroom were a pleasant surprise, I’ve never encountered that before in all my travels.

The location was great, right in the historic area. We were given detailed instructions on how to get into the apartment so had no problems with that. There are good places to eat real close by (walking distance). We were supplied with a parking permit. Our apartment had two bedrooms and contained some antiques, which seemed appropriate for the historical building we were in. I slept in the master bedroom. The bed seemed comfortable (though I woke up the first morning with sore hips). The pillow supplied seemed okay, but I still decided to use my own. The bathroom is modern and has a good shower (well-enclosed, good water pressure, temperature of water only changed a little). There is a clothes washing machine in the bathroom, but it did not appear to be one of those that can also dry, so I was surprised not to find a drying rack. (We didn't use the clothes washer.)
Houmbgaarden offers accommodations in Røros. Both free Wifi and parking on-site are accessible at the apartment free of charge. Rooms are equipped with a patio.

Beautiful and historical UNESCO world heritage city.
Beautiful and historical UNESCO world heritage city. Definitely must to visit place. Food and accommodation is more expensive than in Oslo. You should well plan your visit. I recommend you to take walking tour with guide from the Museum

The town was bustling in the evening with lots of folks out and about, dining and shopping. We were looking for authentic Norwegian food that we did not find. There were a few musicians playing in the evening which was nice. We also thought the food was pricy compared with other cities in Norway.

This is one of the few, and an exceptionally lovely example, of an historic town of wooden houses that I have ever seen. Walks in the town are a treat for the eyes, and there are several hotels, restaurants and other businesses in historic buildings as well. I don't recall identifying a single modern building among the several historic area blocks that I explored, There is an unobtrusive, small, modern mall nearby. The region also has lovely, wide valleys and high, rounded hilltops. It's all a delight.

We went to the main museum which was housed in the former smelting works. It was very informative and the audio guide was helpful, talking you through in considerable detail the various mining processes. At the time we visited (mid June) there was only one guided tour each day at the mine which is 13 km from Roros and this did not fit with our schedule.
Apart from this main museum there was not a lot else to see once you have walked up and down the two main historic streets. We were irritated to have to pay to go into the church . I never like this.

Visiting in January meant that the window for tourist things being open was quite short. Husky sled excursion with Husky Point Roros was fabulous. I wanted to take the Olav's Mine tour and the walking tour of the town but would have had to stay an additional day. The museum about mining was wonderful. Being a UNESCO World Heritage site, the town is worth visiting for that reason alone.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Røros
It‘s a unique experience with your family to feel how the life was 100 years and more ago. The communication from the owner was as well perfect and you had felt already before, that the stay will be perfect, but it was much more. The location Røros is for me an unknown treasure at Norway. Art visits history at Røros and this is immediately seen in the streets.
Great hotel in the middle of town. Nina, the receptionist gave us a history lesson of Roros. It was very interesting. She was amazing and very nice.
The hotel was cozy and breakfast very good.
The room was nice. You don't get a key, but a code for the door - that can be convenient. The hotel is located right across the road from the train station.
