The Lake Isle Restaurant with rooms, hotel in Uppingham

An 18th century town house, this hotel and restaurant has a seasonal menu using local produce and a log fire in the cozy bar.

The room was absolutely spectacular, well stocked with teas and coffees and toiletries, the bathroom was so impressively nice, so much larger than I anticipated! The staff was absolutely the kindest, most helpful and attentive hotel staff I’ve ever encountered. The location was lovely and the restaurant delicious. I have absolutely no complaints :)

Rutland has been aptly described as 'the Cotswolds without the crowds'. The scenery is lovely and villages picturesque. The roads are relatively quiet and we had no difficulty parking in the summer holidays. We spent a pleasant afternoon at Rutland water, which even has it's own beach, with lifeguards.

Centrally placed for National Trust, English Heritage and Historic Houses properties, with equally attractive towns and villages nearby. The Lake Isle restaurant and Don Paddys Bistro are both excellent places to eat, and we would happily eat there again on our next visit.

Uppingham is a really pretty town with a nice range of shops and restaurants. HIghly recommend staying at The Crown pub and visiting the world-famous Goldmark Art Gallery. The art and ceramics are fantastic and the staff are very welcoming. In fact everyone we met in Uppingham was really friendly! If you want to go for a walk / bird watching- Rutland Water is nearby. Oakham is also nice to visit - especially the museum.

We didn’t have a long enough stay to visit Uppingham as we were getting together with family at Rutland Water. We briefly drove through it though and it looked pretty. There’s so much to do in this area, you definitely need a lot more time to explore! We only had a couple of days. I would definitely come here for a long weekend or even a week! So many lovely places to visit.

The well equipped room was in a very quiet outbuilding. The food was superb. I had an Indian meal one evening and it was outstanding. Fabulous location in a stunning village and very friendly staff. The Indian gentleman who managed the hotel was really welcoming and very helpful. His decision to include British pub classics and Indian cuisine in the restaurant should prove to be very popular.

I had a lovely stay at the Garden Hotel, which is homely, clean and very comfortable. The building and its surroundings are a treat, being located in Uppingham’s ancient centre, with a beautiful English cottage garden tucked alongside. My breakfast was delicious!

Room was a decent size, clean and location ideal to travel around. Indian restaurant nextdoor served good food but you will have to travel several miles to eat at restaurant or pub.The saving grace is that this hotel is very reasonably priced.
