The staff were amazing! Very attentive and kind. Food in the restaurant was delicious! Clearly there has been a lot of work done to the hotel and it was great, unfortunately our room had not been updated.

The hotel has very classic decor which made it feel like the high class establishment that it is. The service throughout was very good. It was not a cheap stay but due to these factors, it felt worth it.
This unique and friendly hotel dates back to the 1700s. It offers good home-cooked food, free Wi-Fi and 8 refurbished rooms with attached bathroom.

Location incredible on Main Street, hotel so unique with how narrow, staff so friendly, great wee pub on back. Room cleanliness and shower pressure - spot on!
This small country inn is situated in the center of Moffat, a former spa town where national bard Robert Burns was one of the many visitors.

Just about everything.
But the catering was excellent from the evening meal to the superb breakfast.
The Xmas decorations and the welcoming box of chocolates in cottage 2 were a nice touch.
Our second stay.
The average price per night for a 3-star hotel in Moffat this weekend is $131 or, for a 4-star hotel, $103. Looking for something even fancier? 5-star hotels in Moffat for this weekend cost around $310 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).

I would have liked to have stayed longer in Moffat but this was just a stopover . Lots of wee shops I was interested to look in ( antique stuff ) but sadly they didn’t open until 10am and I needed to get on the road . Will definitely come back for a longer stay next time for a good wander and try out some of the cafes too !! Plenty of places to park , which is always a bonus !

Lovely stay at Holmlea Cottage, great hosts, great location and beautiful home.
Lovely day and night in Moffat. Perfect spot for meeting friends midway between the Highlands and Liverpool.
We had lunch at the Rumblin Tum and dinner and cocktails at Hugos. Both lovely spots with great food and lovely staff. Also had a quick nightcap in the Buccleuch Hotel to listen to the music, great live singing from the DJ and nice chats with friendly locals. Would have stayed longer on departure day but a brewing storm saw us heading back up and down the rd sooner than expected. Note to self..never travel with an amber storm alert looming again..ever..All round a great wee trip to Moffat, will definitely be back. Thanks to all the kindness shown by locals to us visitors. Much appreciated X

Moffat is a nice wee town just off the M74. I had an overnight stay during a walk across the Suthern Upland Way. It has good coffee shops, pubs and hotels and good bakery etc. It also has a Co-op .It is picturesque and I plan to go back when I can spend a couple of days sampling the various establishments!

A smashing little town just 30 minutes from the border with England. Plenty of nice little shops and plenty of eating and drinking possibilities. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast here and all were really good. The monthly Farmers Market was on when we visited and was excellent. The Balmoral Hotel was very good and the town in general is very pet friendly. Hugo's is a fantastic venue for food, drinks and live music. There are several hotels all offering good budget rooms, food and entertainment. Moffatt is a great jumping off area to explore the surrounding countryside and historic places abound. Just 1.5 miles off the M74. Moffatt is a much better proposition than a stop at the motorway services! A great little town full of friendly people. What's not to like?

Such a lovely town, with friendly, helpful people.
Such a lovely town, with friendly, helpful people. As a biker (although for these visits I was in a car), I thought the roads were great, and there was a stunning vista around every corner. Bikers were well catered for at all the roadside cafes, and even in the remotest places, there was no problem with getting fuel.

We have been visiting Moffat for over 54 years and have never been tired of visiting. We love the walks, such as the Grey mares tail and also the walks around town. The shops we love to go to are Wallace Bros.the local butcher, the Sweet shop, the Mill shop of course, the Hardware shop, the garden centre in town. We have just added one new place that has just been taken over and would recommend and that is the Annandale Hotel, the restaurant is well worth a visit.

I'm a repeat guest at this family run hotel, so a little biased.
Very friendly with good rooms, good sized meal portions and great breakfasts. Add the relaxed atmosphere and its a winner.
Moffat is a lovely small town in a nice area. Owners are very helpful for things to do and scenic places/routes in area.
A bike friendly place with it well used by the touring type.
Excellent.
A lovely, well presented hotel, located in a pretty road just 5 minutes from the centre of Moffat. Our room was spacious, clean and light, and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and available to answer any questions we had. We would stay here again.
Beautifully presented cottage, clean, cosy and the perfect stop off for our trip to the outer isles of Scotland, close to lovely Moffat and the Black Bull Pub for food which is extremely dog friendly.
You can see that a lot of time and thought has been put into the cottage by the owner.
Paid £90 for superior room. Had a suite of 2 rooms.
Big lounge with tv and 2 settees.
Fridge and sink.
Bedroom was large as was shower room.
This was a very good value hotel.
Biggest room(s) on our Scotland tour.
