lovely little room. quite easy to walk into Hay from there. excellent breakfast overlooking the garden. staff was very friendly and helpful. this place was an amazing value and I would absolutely recommend it and stay again!

After a very stressful drive through some treacherous rainfall (an uncommon amount for the area), this place made everything worthwhile. Walking in here was like waking into a warm blanket. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind, dinner near the fireplace was unbelievable (seriously, don't miss dinner there, it was absolutely delicious) and having a drinks among a few locals (the ones who braved the rainfall) was so lovely. The rooms were clean, charming, and very comfortable. And after a great breakfast, we walked around the beautiful landscape that surrounds Rhydspence. A wonderful place, we hope to make it back someday!

The house was very well designed, had lots of storage space and was really clean. All bedrooms had ensuite bathrooms, which was brilliant. The welcome hamper was...welcome. Location was perfect, right in the town.The electric charging point next to the house was a bonus.

This is a lovely little apartment. Very cozy and clean and nicely decorated. Lots of nice light. The kitchen was nicely outfitted and the coffee/tea supplies were very nice. Wonderful to have a clothes washer. Nice to have an outer room to leave wet umbrellas etc. Great, quiet location a short walk from the city center.

Great place for book lovers. It is really quite a small town, but the amount of bookshops is shocking! There are plenty to choose depending on your preferences, some are more general and some more specific. I particularly liked the LGBT bookshop "Gay on Wye" (I like a play on words! ) and Addyman´s, which has a cool decoration and special vibe to it (not the most suitable for people with limited mobility tho, there is steep stairs and books in the floor everywhere). Richard Booth is also a beautiful one, not only for books but also art and craft materials.
If you are looking for a different type of shopping, there is also a bunch of small businesses selling jewellery, crafts, music vinyls, local foods...
On Thurdsays it´s the market and the town is more animated.
I had food in the pub Blue Boar and in Shepherds Parlour and I recommend both, the second one also has good ice cream ;)
The walk along the river is also beautiful, if you are looking to stretch your legs and enjoy the nature.

Hay was very interesting.
Hay was very interesting. We spent a great deal of time at the castle, the guide was happy to answer a great many questions and spend a lot of time explaining the history of the house.
The riverside walk was very pleasant.
However, we were unable to get a pub meal in the evening as none of them were cooking.

Hay is an amazing place - it is like stepping back in time...
Hay is an amazing place - it is like stepping back in time and the plethora of second hand books is a delight but I love it is so quaint and compact and is lovely when it’s quieter and out of season. The shops are amazing and a lovely blend especially for gift shopping but everything is such lovely quality. That also goes for the food - local delis, bakers and butchers offer everything you could need and there are plenty of pubs (the Blue Boar and Old Black Lion were my preferences) and restaurants to choose from in such a small condensed space. But be mindful if booking a short visit especially that not all the shops open every day so check out times before you plan your trip if that is a key purpose of your visit. That goes for entertainment too - the cinema has very sporadic openings but we did find an open mic night this time on Friday at the Globe (a converted chapel) with bar and food in a very relaxed setting. The only other thing to be mindful of is parking - there is a very large carpark on entry to Hay but free parking is much more restricted so you’d need to fathom that out too.

The perfect place for a booklover with lots of lovely bookshops. Lots of different individual shops to browse.
We ate at Oscars Bistro at lunch time and visited the Fish and chip shop one evening and had an Indian takeaway from Red Indigo . Managed to get a pizza from origin Pizza at the Hay Cinema bookshop. All good.
Visited the Castle with the admission ticket valid for a year !
Hay on Wye is perfect to stroll around visiting all the different shops.

Peaceful area with magnificent views of surrounding countryside. We loved the whole experience & couldn’t ’ fault anything at all! Superb B&B which has a lot to offer any traveller to the beautiful Wye Valley!!
Would recommend Tomatitoes Tapas for choice of food. The Old Black Lion is traditional, but has a limited Menu in Mondays & Tuesdays. Hay on Wye has many independent shops to browse apart from the famous bookshops. Easy to spend hours there & have coffee or lunch in The Granary before visiting the famous Norman Castle which is steeped in history.

Hay is the most beautiful town, full of character, many bookshops, beautiful independent retailers, excellent coffee shops and restaurants and of course the castle. Hay would be very busy during book festival times and during school holidays but out of these time zones it is an incredibly peaceful and calming place to be. The town is vibrant but not overpowering. There are plenty of things to see and do from visiting the castle or a trip to the quaint cinema, whiskey tasting to tea and cake alongside the beautiful river Wye or for the more adventurous, a spot of canoeing.
The quality of food in cafes and restaurants is outstanding and there is a good choice for every taste.
Coming from a busy seaside town to Hay is a massive contrast but in a very very good way. It is peaceful, culturally vibrant , wonderfully located for exploring the surrounding countryside and a true gem in every way

This is a great little property, conveniently located a short walk from the centre of Hay on Wye. We personally could have done with a little more space, but that is our preference, not a reflection on the property itself. The property was furnished and finished to a really high standard, and was lovely and cool during our recent heat wave! Thank you for the milk and Welsh cakes in the fridge on our arrival! Spacious tents, very comfortably fitted out but still felt like camping. Toilet and shower facilities good. Nice communal tent with generous breakfast and hospitable all day tea and coffee. Easy walking distance to cental Hay. Charming and attentive hosts
Lovely welcoming owners. Easy to access Hay on Wye and the wider Wye Valley area. Very quiet and relaxing to be in. Comfortable and clean. Lovely gardens and wide ranging rural views. Spacious breakfast room. Sheep and chickens and fresh eggs.
The location is great. Right in the middle of hay-on-wye. The pool was an unexpected lovely addition that we used. Its quite dated but had a certain charm to the hotel. Staff were really lovely,as was breakfast.
Room was modern, recently decorated and very spacious. Staff were very friendly at check in and at dinner/breakfast. Dinner was also really lovely. Location was perfect for wandering around Hay.
