A charming property at the heart of the city. The staff was really attentive, the check-in process went like a breeze, and the breaksfast was wonderful. A small walkable city with enough sights to see for 2 days.
A small walkable city with enough sights to see for 2 days. It can be used as a base to visit Braga and Porto and other nearby towns. There are a few supermarkets around to shop for groceries to prepare your meals. We walked from the property to the Sanctuary of Penha, and back, which was up numerous very steep roads but the view from the top was rewarding and worth the torturous climb. It was a great workout. The walk from the train station to this property is about 30 minutes over a steep cobblestone pedestrian walkway which can be a challenge if one has a pull-along luggage bag. Walking is the best way to see the city.

A fascinating city with a great feeling of history. Leave at least two days if not more to get a fuller feeling than we were able to in our short visit of a few hours to meet friends. We will definitely come back from the south of Spain to visit.

Very interesting town, considered to be the birthplace of Portugal, and the birthplace of its first king.
I was there for the annual Festival Penha Classicos, which if you're into classic cars is a must-see. Very cool event. But now I need to pay another visit to explore the rest of the town and its history. I'll be back.

It's a city of extremely mixed styles and states of maintenance / decay.
Some of the architecture is fascinating, flamboyant, quirky and fun. Another portion looks like it's from the 1970s and left unmaintained to decay. Other parts of the city reminded me of the Brazilian favellas while another looked like a well preserved and cool medieval buildings or like from the 1800s.
There's lots to explore. The city has a diverse character and will serve you sights of history and beauty, but also saddening poverty and some depressingly cold and unfriendly looking plain concrete buildings. You won't be bored.

Unfortunate with the weather, rained 90% in 8 days, however the whitewashed walls and decor of the villa together with mountainous views kept spirits high. Slightly misleading with the photos is that you are unable to view the pool from the accommodation- look at the villa as an annexe (substantial at that) with the main house in between pool and annexe. The owners were away whilst we were there and weather bad so beautiful infinity / jacuzzi pool never used, however I get the impression this area would possibly not be accessible if the owners were present or at worse case -shared - best to check beforehand - most helpful hosts. Many beautiful ornaments within villa and stairs down to underbuild / snug would not be suitable for young children.

An ideal place to stay in Guimaraes. The hotel is well situated on the outskirts of the town which is within easy walking distance with lots of free parking behind. Check in was fast and efficient. The hotel is modern and clean and there are comfortable areas to relax whilst waiting for pickup or guests to arrive, Our breakfast offered a good selection of food and was well priced. We enjoyed our stay and wish we had booked an extra night.
The hotel is located in Guimarães historical city centre. It is in a pedestrian area but you can come close by car to leave your luggage. It is right in the middle of the centre close to all attractions, monuments, bars and restaurants. There is a very convenient automatic check-in procedure which allows you to arrive at any time.
It was very good value for money. A bit older hotel, but kept very well. Probably better than any modern hotel, as the room and the bathroom were both spacious and well organised. There was everything we needed plus the room service was great and the very good restaurant food surprisingly cheap.
Very clean. Great location. We had the top apartment, which had lots of space. Just be aware if booking the top apartment that there are some steep stairs to climb up for the last flight of stairs.
Clean and spacious hotel with comfortable room and the restaurant on the very top of the building with amazing panorama over the mountains. Not far from the castle and the town centre.
