The owner and staffs were very helpful & friendly. Even though we could only speak English and they spoke Mandarin, they tried their best to help us throughout our stay. It was also close to one of the entrances of the Ancient City and there were at least 2 Halal restaurants, convenience stores and a supermarket within 5-7 mins walking distances. Bed & beddings was comfortable. Rooms are a good size and clean. We got 2 rooms. One was a Queen sized bed and another had a single bed and a queen sized bed for our family of 5. We were there in December & the heating in the rooms worked fine. Water was well heated too. Rooms had most of basic hotel facilities and amenities and cleans towels.

Great location, above the old town with easy access to explore. Very spacious and clean room with traditional accents. Wonderful breakfast overlooking old town. This boutique hotel was the best place we stayed at during our China trip, it beat the big hotel chains because of the more intimate size, less crowds and personal service. We received a complimentary pick up from the airport and lots of personal attention. The staff was really great, Amber in particular was so attentive and took care of all our needs, including arranging an onward trip to Tiger leaping gorge and Shangri-la. Overall a wonderful stay and would definitely come back to this charming hotel and city.

Lijian old town is full of tourist shops, very few locals live there. It is very busy in the afternoon and evening with tourists, even in low season ie Dec and Jan when we visited. The local night food market is good on edge of the old city. Go there for an experience. Cheap eats and real Lijiang atmosphere. Recommend visit to Biasha village. Shuwue not so great.
A beautiful park on the edge of Lijiang old town, Dragon Pool park well worth a visit. 50yuan entry fee, but if 60 years old its free.

No motor vehicles, motor bikes or bikes apart from service vehicles.
To get a taxi you have to walk to outside the town and delivery drivers have to park outside and walk the delivery in.
Call your accom when you get off the train ( 20 mins taxi ride .. 30 yuan ) and they will meet you at the gate with a trolley to carry your bags. The stone streets are brutal to drag a suitcase across!

Take a good camera. Day trips to Shangrila (high speed train) and Tiger leaping gorge (bus) are a must and the scenery is breathtaking.
Not a bad thing to say about Lijiang. So many choices of food, shopping, drink and entertainment. The dancing ladies at square street every night is a must see - and join in !
Have an iPhone 10 or better to download the few apps you will need to get by just fine as a solo traveller who can say hello and thank you in Chinese and nothing else.

At Yulong Mountain, there are many attractions, and most of them are free of charge after you have paid the entrance fee before entering the mountain. This fee is inclusive of a tour bus that takes you to all of these sites.
I was there during the Golden week. Though it was crowded but I enjoyed seeing how they celebrate this event with colorful costumes and singing performance everywhere

Lijiang is a nice town with a very beautiful ancient town. Almost all the shops in the ancient town open till very late at night and the public toilets in there are (surprisingly) very clean though abit dimly lit. You can see alot of people walking around in the traditional costumes walking around taking pictures. There are much to see and do in Lijiang.

Lijiang old town is pretty incredible. Regardless of the tacky tourist shops which sell the same stuff...The architecture, laneways, stonework, FLOWERS! plants, rivers, streams and bridges make the experience. We found great authentic, real, inexpensive places to eat in. It is NOT easy to get around on the first day, but the second and third days you get a feel for the layout. But be prepared to get lost! Make sure you have a Chinese version of maps on your phone...
We had no plans except to wander, we went up to the viewing platform. We checked out "bar street" but preferred to eat in the smaller alleyway joints.
You could take a thousand photos here. Early morning is great for photos with no one around and before the shops open, the wooden doors are still on the shop fronts...
There is a real market selling fruit veggies fish meat etc. People do still live in old town thank goodness so you do get a real life feeling. We stayed for 2 nights and we thought that was enough. Highly recommend!

The inn is situated in the center of the old town, with dining and shopping options close by. The staff were incredibly accommodating, assisting us in transporting our luggage from the outskirts of the old town to the inn. They offer all essential amenities, aided us in booking private tours and car rides around Lijiang, and were generous with their recommendations for sightseeing spots. Therefore, there's no need to arrange tours online beforehand. The services were on par with those of a five-star hotel.
I usually don't give a full score, but I must give Lijiang Gemel Hotel a full score because not only do the accommodation conditions satisfy me, but what satisfies me more is the hotel's service. We come from a foreign land and always worry about inconvenience. There is no need to worry about staying in this hotel, as they will provide you with various assistance in a warm and friendly manner. Thank you.
It's really great to receive my sister. She saw that I came here alone and was very enthusiastic and helpful in joining a group to play in Shangri La for two days. The price was also very favorable. When she left, she even gave me a flower cake, which was very good. This time, I found the most comfortable hotel I have ever stayed in in Lijiang. I will stay here again next time I come to Lijiang
