Tecate is a sleepy border town that has upgraded over the past decades. With its old fashioned plaza and church, fun shops, and great restaurants, it is a great introduction to Mexico. Safe, very friendly, and known for the famous Rancho La Puerta spa.

The hotel bedrooms is like a motel 6 in California.

The hotel bedrooms is like a motel 6 in California. The check in was very slow. The rooms are outdated. The dining is simple. Just make sure not forget anything because it will not appear in the lost and found. Housekeeping keeps and lies about anything left behind. They got tipped and got a little extra with my Dr. Martens I accidentally left behind. I Was also involved in a hit and run accident, the drunk driver was not arrested, bad city cops

Great place to visit, mind your own business, stay out of the local bars there is nothing in a local bar, that is worth losing your life over. Go to Valle Guadalupe stay at a BnB, sample some wine, and great food, be nice and friendly, talk to the locals, they love to show the local scenery to you and hope that you appreciate it as much as they love living there. Don't be the ugly American, or you will be called a "pinche gringo" which is a very derogatory term. dont go flashing fancy or expensive jewelry or fancy handbags, be humble and you will make it our alive.

We went shopping to the market and we found very good bargains. I had my hair done, which was very good and at a very good price. We ate at the Sazon de los abuelos and it was awsome. Tecate is easy to get around. Next time we will avoid leaving Tecate late. The line to cross to US was long.

Tecate is one of Mexico's "Pueblo Magicos".

Tecate is one of Mexico's "Pueblo Magicos". Small, laid back and a convenient border crossing. The home of Tecate beer. Check out the brewery tour. It is also the start of Baja's "Ruta De Vino" From there to Ensenada there are many wineries to check out and beautiful scenery to enjoy
