The room was clean and generous. The setting next to the gulf, beautiful and the breakfast buffet the best we’d ever experienced. Parking was plentiful, and the staff responded to any concerns or questions quickly.(but not always satisfactorily).
The bird life is extraordinary.

Staff was very accommodating allowing myself and a friend to store large bicycle bags for three weeks while out touring. Facilities were clean, comfortable and the WiFi worked better than any I had elsewhere along our bike tour.

We went a few days before a multi-day kayaking trip and one night afterwards. Loreto is a nice, quiet little town with opportunities for whale watching (saw a few but Late Jan too early overall), dolphins. Sports fishing big here. Can scuba or snorkel but it was way too cold 3rd week in Jan. Coronado Island boat trip saw a few whales, seals, birds, turkey vultures, nice beach. Day trips - San Javier mission could be combined with goat cheese/burro riding excursion. Tabor Canyon hike -wear hiking shoes (not tennies) and be prepared to tackle BIG boulders (I stopped after first rope segment). Nice view hike near Puerto Escondido was easy. Great restaurants: Los Mandiles de Santa Lucia (waterfront), Mi Loreto and Mezzaluna La Taberita (cash only)

You have to visit Loreto of you discover BCS.
You have to visit Loreto of you discover BCS. It's by far less crowded than the other towns. You can make day trips to beaches, the mountains and make boat tours to see whales, dolphins and sea lions.

Loreto is wonderful for couples without small children.
Loreto is wonderful for couples without small children. There are many activities such as diving, fishing, hiking and beach combing to enjoy. However, since many of these are adult oriented it would not be as enjoyable for children. One does not need a car in Loreto. Everything is within a 30 minute walk or less. There are numerous tour companies that take tourists on boat trips to Coronado Island where one can snorkel and walk the clean white sand beach.

Based on only 2 days in Loreto, we enjoyed the central plaza with its old church, great dining opportunities - we tried Mi Loreto and Mita Gourmet. Also took a boat tour around Coronado Island - highly recommended. Charming ambience, friendly people.

Small town, very friendly and helpful people.
Small town, very friendly and helpful people. Lots of tour vendors and shops, but no one is pushy. Walked about 20 minutes away from tourist area to a very good restaurant - Domingo's. Worth the walk. Easy to find, felt safe all the way.

After a couple of days there, we looked up crime statistics.
After a couple of days there, we looked up crime statistics. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the average number of crimes committed in the city was almost none! We walked home at night, since everything was within walking distance, stopped and had tacos from vendors on the streets. It was the most peaceful place, we’ve already booked our return trip in July.
