location. fewer rooms than mega resorts, so easy to enter, exit to room, pool, beach, parking. breakfast is a good deal if purchased included with room. bad deal if purchased separately. staff was nice. great location, especially if you dont want to leave much. all hotels, restaurnats bars, near by. we rented car and actually stayed elsewhere for 2 nites (tulum area, and Valladolid. although we paid for full 7 days. compared to other ones, it seemed reasonably priced. few kids, thats a plus. steps to beach. well lit, well guarded.

Its all about the beach. However the city itself has all the major stores anyone would need for anything. As far as the hostel goes, its a 5-7 min. walk to Chedraui Selecto Mercado. Its the best that Mexico can offer and its awesome.

nice to visit if you want to go to beach or archeological sites, such as Tulum or Chichen Itza. otherwise, its just another overpriced (super overpriced) resort area with constant traffic and noise. people are indifferent to tourists and their poor service reflects it. We were super surprised as we are natural born Mexicans living in the US, and expected service would be good since there is no language barrier. nope. service sucked most places. Tourists abound and they know most will tip regardless. we rented a car and drove everywhere . overall, people are nice unless you are buying something from them, or at restaurant. the farther you go from Cancun, the nicer the people are. Beaches were nice , but again, expect to pay more than you budgeted. hard to be positive about paying $50 for 2 beers and one order of calamari with fries at roadside diner. plus tip. we had flat tire on desolate main road and people helped. beware of super cheap car rental fares offered. they fail to tell you insurance is Mandatory (even if your CC covers the damage waiver) it still sets you back $200-300 USD additional for car insurance (5 days) . and its NOT optional. i printed the letter from my CC company specifically detailing the coverage for this trip. it saved me on only $45. we spent overall about $3K, and it would have been better spent in Puerto Vallarta, or similar.

In August, it is too hot, we cant really enjoy the beach that much. The water had too much algae as well. Chizen Itza tour is good , just the store they stop at is overpriced. Bit difficult to get Vegetarian food.

People is amazing, but the airport is really bad.
People is amazing, but the airport is really bad. They make me cancel an Uber that actually was legal, but they claimed it wasn't. Taxis try to charge 100 USD for a ride to the center, and they say the bus charge 50 USD that is not true. The renting car companies does not have contactless payment, so better book cars outside the airport.

I spent a lot of time deciding which all inclusive resort was right for my family of 6 (2 adults, 4 teens). Catalonia was perfect! Perfect size, plenty of restaurants and buffet to never have to wait in lines. All food including the buffet had excellent service! Staff was very attentive, and food selection was very good and tasty! We loved the coffee shop and light pastries offered. We frequented it regularly before visiting the gym. The Spa was great! A massage and use of the hydrotherapy pool, saunas was amazing!! We were impressed with the buffet (presentation, food quality, various stations), excellent for an all inclusive! We stayed priviledged level, room with swim out pool that was great and fun for our family! The rooms were spacious, had ceiling fans which were great! I would recommend Catalonia to others. We've traveled several other all inclusive in Cancun area this one was worth the money! Beach had some seaweed but they cleared it daily and our last day, there was none! It didn't prevent us from wading in the beautiful clear blue water!
LOL-HA Hotel fully met our needs. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet; the wifi worked well; breakfast (included) was tasty; hotel staff were friendly and helpful. For a location close to the Cancun airport, it is a good budget option for a one-night stay. The hotel is new and located within its own "compound", so it is very safe and secure. However, there is nothing else in the immediate area; without a car, the only option for dining is the hotel restaurant.
The food was appalling the bars closed at ten 30 that's not all inclusive you had to constantly sign for anything - the breakfast service was terrible and the selection of food the worse I have ever seen for a 5 star hotel - the restaurant was too small to accommodate the guests and food options diabolical - how can an Italian swap mash for lasagne
The hotel was really close to the airport which was why we chose this. Would definitely not stay here if I wanted to visit Cancun for more than 1 night though. The room was big and nice bed and clean bathroom, didn't use the kitchen but it seemed nice!
