My recent stay at Hotel Boutique Sol y Luna SPA was an absolute pleasure. From the moment we stepped through the door, the professional yet friendly staff made us feel welcome.
Highlights of the hotel are the on-site spa, outdoor pool and restaurant. We indulged in a couple's massage that left us feeling rejuvenated. We also enjoyed the included breakfast, as well as other meals in the onsight restaurant.

The hotel had a lovely garden area to enjoy, including two pools and a view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The room was spacious , and the shower had nice water pressure and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was really delicious and the staff was friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. We would also suggest eating at Casa Linda, which is just a couple blocks away.

The location of the hotel is perfect. You can see beautiful Chapala lake sitting at the hotel restaurant. It took us about ~20 min walk to the center of the town. Surrounding neighborhood was safe and beautiful. Our room was a lot spacious compared to average hotel rooms we had stayed over many years.

We were visiting friends who recently moved to Ajijic from the USA. It’s a very lovely quiet town. Lot’s of ex-pats there is a huge ex-pat facility with tons of activities and information to make the transition fairly smooth. We found it a bit too quiet. The lake is beautiful but unfortunately it is not swimmable. But I could imagine kayaking or paddle boarding would be great. Very few boats. Beautiful Malecón with a number of restaurants overlooking the lake. We felt very safe. Super convenient with large grocery stores and everything else you might need. Easy walkable and driving. Great restaurants.

This town is on Lake Chapala and has been a bit of an artist's colony since the 1950's. Quiet and charming, as a retirement age woman I always felt safe even at night. There seems to be a respect here for everyone. And beauty even in the sidewalks. Sidewalks: the streets are paved with cobblestones that might be difficult for folks with mobility issues.
I visited over Thanksgiving weekend, which coincided with the Festival of Saint Andrew, which was both wonderful (I love church bells! and processions) and a challenge (firecrackers).

Getting around can be a bit of a problem.
Getting around can be a bit of a problem. You have to take the buses that go to Chapala. If you want to go to Guadalajara, you have to take the Guadalajara bus that leaves about every 45 minutes. And the roads are clogged with traffic. Maybe 80 years ago it was an idyllic little settlement. But today, as with many other parts of Mexico, there's just too much traffic congestion. Lots of Canadian and US retirees reside in Ajijic, and they tend to keep themselves busy in various ways -- operating weekly street markets, running bridge tournaments, and the like.

The small town of Ajijic was very pretty and folkloric.
The small town of Ajijic was very pretty and folkloric. I was traveling by myself, but I had friends who live there and they are the ones that took me to many places. They knew of the best restaurants so I had only pleasurable eating experiences. I recommend a restaurant named "Tango", the food was very good especially red meat. I also went to other restaurants, but I do not remember the names. Getting around Ajijic wasn't easy for a senior citizen because the town streets are not paved. I recommend to take tennis shoes or very comfortable no heel shoes. I would like to stay again at the "Garden of Dreams" hotel, but ONLY if I can be assured that the water to shower has been fixed and/or have made provisions that if it does not rain they have another way to assure that the showers' water does not come from the volcanic layer of the land. Or can your recommend another hotel downtown and with good shower water.

The hotel was a short walk into the centre of Ajijic along the lakeside path. The room was a good size with plenty of storage space. The second bed was located on a mezzanine accessed by a spiral staircase. The hotel rooms surrounded an attractive garden with usable garden furniture, making for a very tranquil location.
The staff were very welcoming and, even better, a welcome drink was provided on arrival. Parking was readily available in the street outside.
The Casa del Sol is amazing! We did not expect it to be so good. Elizabeth, the owner, is so welcoming and the staff are excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and very good, and the whole atmosphere was like home away from home. We made some wonderful friends among the guests, but were also able to enjoy coffee by the pool in peace. Would not stay anywhere else in Ajijic! Thankyou Elizabeth, Efrem and Tatiana - you are awesome!
We enjoyed the view. The pool area has a beautiful view to the lake and the surroundings, the food is good. We ordered a pizza and it was deliciuos. The hotel offers free wifi.
Loui, the host, gave generously his knowledge about the area, operates a very efficient and graceful hotel, and is extremely accommodating to guests and their situation(s).
